7 Pc. Hook & Pick Set - 84000D

Honestly wasn’t what I initially wanted, but due to this “plague” (insert eye roll here) everything else would take longer, and I needed a set quickly. I waited about 2 days for these. I wanted Milwaukee, and while I imagine they’d be somewhat better.... these are my first Gearwrench tools and I’m pretty impressed at the quality for price. I’m no professional, but I did fix a multiple disaster of an auto air system myself, these helped and seem solidly built, tough, reasonably comfortable, and overall pretty good quality.

I am just using these as a do it yourself homeowner. I used to work on cars a few decades ago as an ASE Master Certified Automotive Technician. I also went to UTI for automotive and diesel technology. These seem like real decent buy. I also got them on sale so that helped. Quality seems very decent also. I don't care for the pis s poor gearwrench warranty where you have to mail the tool in at your cost to get a new tool. You might get lucky and find a NAPA auto parts nearby or another authorized dealer that has these in stock if you break them. They can exchange them I heard. At this point I would buy these again if I needed to.

I've always tried to put off spending money on tools that I didn't need. I've bought the Harbor Freight cheapies and they are junk. The shafts pull right out of the crappy handles and the steel is cheap and bends. This set is quality. I've used it more in the past 3 months than I ever thought I would. Honestly I should've purchased this set 10+ years ago. Do not hesitate, the picks are top quality and a necessity for any serious DIY or home mechanic. Professional grade at an affordable price.

I've had opportunities to use a few of these hooks so far. I'm sure there are some other shapes that would have helped for specific tasks as well, but these seem like one of those tools where there will be other shapes and sizes you wish you had for specific tasks no matter how many options are already in your toolbox. These have worked pretty well for me so far with the one exception being that the hook has pulled out of the handle a couple times on one of the small ones. It can be pressed back in easily enough, and I was admittedly pulling on it kind of hard, but the fact that it just seems to be a simple plastic-on-plastic friction fit is disappointing, hence the 4-star rating. I'll have to glue it at some point, probably, to see if that solves the problem. Otherwise I'm still satisfied with the purchase.

Theses are a nice, sold set of pics. They're well made. The handles are a little larger than some competitors, but that allows for a nice fit in the hand. The molding quality of the handles is great, so they're comfortable to use. The metal portion is tough (I haven't bent any of them yet), so I anticipate that they'll last for quite a long time before I need to try out the warranty.

This is a very nice hook and pick set. They are sharp and very well made. The smaller ones come with a protective pice of plastic tubing on them so you don't impale yourself...very thoughtful! The large ones do not but you would have to work a little harder to puncture yourself. For me, the tray is to big to be useful in my drawers, however the tray is very well made and should be good if you have the room. I can definitely recommend this set. I think it should last a long time.

Gave these a shot, as my "tool truck" ones went missing, and could get these (pre Covid-19) the next day. Had these for five months now. Use them often, mostly for changing o-rings on hydraulic fittings and removing hydraulic piston seals, occasionally for much more demanding tasks. Often use brakleen to get grease/oil off the handles. They have held up great. I have pulled the small 90° angle pick straight out of its handle twice on internal gland seals that were the size of your first finger or thumb. Pushed it back in, used the larger size, no other issue. This pick does not rotate in its handle, and I still use it pretty hard. Was probably asking too much of any tool that size, chock it up to operator error. If it makes any difference, been turning wrenches for 18 years and I'm an on road heavy equipment mechanic. Your mileage may vary.

nice set decent quality for the price. don't really use them as much as I thought I would but I guess thats my own fault. comes with a tray to keep them in. the tray is a little unorganized you have to take one pick out to get to another sometimes but other than that I have no complaints would reccomend to anyone looking for a good set.

Awesome pick set. Great selection of sizes and angles. They feel like a premium quality tool, as does everything else I own from gearwrench. I'm pretty rough with my tools (diesel mechanic) and these have really held up. I've used them more as a pry bar at times, which they clearly aren't designed for. Yet I still haven't bent one. They also come in a nice quality tray for your toolbox, which fits absolutely perfect both vertically and horizontally in one of my drawers. This is my 7th or 8th purchase from gearwrench, and they have become my top favourite tool company along with Sunex. Tool truck quality without the bs price.
