The name of their latest release refers not only to the band's enigmatic perceived image, it also proclaims optimism and joie de vivre to be pretty much an irrevocable philosophy of life. Freedom Call reflect their musical enthusiasm in every single note, they share it with their fans, on their albums as well as in countless electrifying shows. A phenomenon with a reciprocal effect, the musicians allowing themselves just as frequently to be inspired by their fans. So it comes as no surprise that frontman Chris Bay talks about a "whole load of energy" which the band currently emanates as a result of their successful tour promoting the predecessor album Beyond: "We returned from the shows with such a lot of power that we found ourselves composing and recording the new material within a few months." I stumbled across High Up a little while ago and was immediately forced to sit and do nothing but listen to it and smile in the middle of my day. It was just raw positivity gliding on top of a powerful melody that never lost its strength, which is something I rarely find. Most songs tend to slow down or lose strength outside their refrain which I find I don't enjoy because I want to feel that strength throughout the song, and very rarely have I found songs that manage to dip out of the strength of the refrain however retain strength in another way that keeps that strength throughout the song. I sought out other songs, and found every one of Master Of Light's songs in some way hit me. I have a rule that I won't buy an Album unless I like 3 or more songs from it, otherwise I buy the individual songs. I bought that album. The strength, positivity, and compositions of the songs just have that feeling of mysticism with the chorus and accenting their instruments with a 3-dimensional feel to all aspects of the songs where their instrumental complexity rewards you every step of the way. Review: Awesome Power Metal! - These guys are awesome! The music is exactly what I look for in power metal. Exciting, fun, bombastic, and well engineered. Every song on the album is excellent and I listen to the entire album just about every day now. Just as with any music, I highly recommend getting a CD over mp3. Lossless gives music so much more life and detail.
