Review: The best thing in my closet!! - I absolutely loved these shoes, and realizing that the only way I could get them was from this vendor in Germany, I kept putting it off. Who wants to wait a month to get a pair of shoes that you really can't return and aren't able to try on--especially when the reviews are so mixed regarding sizing?? Well, I liked the style so much that I gave in and ordered them. First, the shipping was no big deal. They say it can take a month; I think it took 8 or 9 days. The fit was EXACTLY like my other Birkenstocks. I always wear a 37 and this 37 was the identical fit. They aren't big or wide like some reviewers say. Maybe those reviewers aren't used to wearing Birkenstocks because these are the same exact footbed as all the others. I love the light brown color. I love the style. As far as comfort, they don't seem to be quite as comfortable as the regular Mayari because the added strap at the ankle is a little cumbersome and right now it's stiff. And you can't just slip your feet in and out so your feet don't feel as free as in the slip in and out styles. It really requires sitting down and buckling and unbuckling each time you take them on and off, because of the way the straps cross, there is no way to wiggle your feet in or out of them. These shoes are very much like the Mayari style. I have six pairs of Mayari Birkenstocks in the various colors because they are the most comfortable shoe made, in my opinion. I also have a couple pairs of Arizona, which I find clunky and a few in the other styles, that I almost never wear. The Mayari are best because the toe strap helps them stay on and the straps are thinner, unlike the Arizona, which feels big-buckled and heavy to me. This style is the exact shoe as the Mayari except that it has the added ankle strap. The strap is loose, not really supportive, and I don't think it's supposed to be. It's just a style difference, a look that mixes it up, which I LOVE! Right now these are my favorite pair of shoes and I am so glad I went ahead and ordered them, even from Germany. Truly, order your regular Birkenstock size--don't let the other reviews scare you about sizing. I usually wait until they go on sale to buy my Birkenstocks...in fact this may be the only pair I've ever paid full price for...but I'm sure glad I did. After reading more reviews I became concerned that the 38 wouldn't fit. I contacted the seller and they worked with me to figure the size out even had me measure my foot (24cm) and measure the sole of my 38 Birks in gizeh (26cm, at the longest point). She physically measured both the 37 and 38 and discovered that the 37 regular width would fit better measuring at (25.5cm), the 38 would have probably been too loose considering this style. She changed the size right before they shipped and they arrived way before the estimated time. I am so happy with the customer service I recieved and love my new Birks! They will hardly need breaking in and fit like a glove! They are narrower than the gizeh, this isn't an issue because I have narrow feet anyways but if you have wider feet I would go for the wide. I am attaching photos of the Yara in 37 and how they fit and a photo of the gizeh in 38 next to the Yara so you can see the comparison. If I order another pair *by B***G on July 8, 2016* I measured my other euro sized shoes and decide to order the same size, a 39, or size 8 in America. They are a tad to big, but I am still wearing them and they look fine. If I order another pair, I will probably get a size 36. I think it would be a better fit. I am used to wearing orthotics in my shoes for arch support, so these feel great on, I could and have worn them for hours!
