Roland TD-27KV2 Generation 2 V-Drum Kit

I've been a semi-pro drummer for over 40 years. This is the best electronic kit I've played. The heads are very realistic in their stick response and the variety of sounds is great. I used it at a Halloween show and it performed flawlessly.

Beginner drummer here with some experience in piano and electric guitar. This is a huge upgrade from my Roland TD-1DMK which was my first kit. All of the pads are massive (The ride and snare in particular are colossal when compared side by side with the TD-1DMK) and allow for far, far more expressive play and technique that closely emulates an acoustic kit. The sounds generated from the module also sound great. It was a bit of an exhausting undertaking doing the unboxing, assembly, and cleanup myself because of the ridiculous amount of cardboard, but it was definitely worth it in the end. However, be aware that the set does NOT come with a kick pedal, hi-hat stand, or snare stand -- you must supply your own. It didn't seem obvious from all of the marketing images of the kit, so I just wanted to make it crystal clear here for any prospective buyers thinking of making a purchase. Besides that, I don't think you can go wrong with this kit if you've got the disposable income sitting around to order one for yourself. It's probably the best value kit in Roland's collection considering the hardware you're getting, at least within this tier of other comparable drum kits given the hardware and price range.

Surprise, you’re able to split symbols, snare base and Tom’s into separate channels. We use it at church and it sounds just like an acoustic drum set. The sound guys love the control.

I really want to play these but cannot, at least not yet. Before you buy this, note the product description, particularly the part that says, "what's in the box". This drum kit is supposed to contain two boxes: box 1 contains the tom and cymbal pads, bass drum, snare drum, and the high hat; box 2 is smaller and contains the stand or rack, which is the MK-STD2, consisting of the rack mount tubes, clamps, and cables. BE AWARE THAT AMAZON APPARENTLY DOES NOT HAVE OR SHIP BOX NUMBER TWO! I ordered the kit in late November and received it December 2. It came in one large box that contained smaller boxes with all the pads, the brain, the high hat and the bass drum. Box number 2 was absent. Upon realizing the drum rack was missing, I called support, which is very difficult. They listened carefully and decided to just send me a complete replacement item, which would consist of both boxes. It arrived four days later and once again, contained no box number 2, that is, no rack. Roland seems to have zero phone support, but if you dig down into their shipping specs, you will find that this kit does in fact contain two boxes, with the stand in the smaller one. If you search Amazon's site for the rack, you will find that Amazon does also sell the rack separately for about $300.00 but that the item ships "from Japan" over six to eight weeks. Basically, I now own two almost-complete sets of the KV2 kit pads, brain, high hat and bass drum, the necessary small accessories, and a ton of instructions. However, I have no rack stand to mount them on. The Amazon support website is no help. The bots and chats are no help. The delivery people have no clue. And the support person I finally reached on the phone was kind (so was her supervisor) but unable to correct the problem. I don't think anyone even noticed that they shipped about $2600 worth of replacement equipment that they have no concern to get back. Bottom line is that the sale price on this item is probably based on the fact that despite the product description, the package will not include box number 2 in your delivery.

I'm new in drumming and this is my second kit. It most definitely perfect. Practicing and mild to light gigs or recidals are no issues for it. Has enough flagship gear with it, looks great, doesn't take up too much space, very upgradeable! 9 out of 10 for the kit. Would be 10/10 but it is expensive (just manufacture gripe) otherwise great buy 👍🏼

My husband is a long time drummer…nearly 60 years! He has a previous electronic set, it is over 25 years old, it was time for a brand new set and he is lovin it!

I've been playing drums for several decades and had the original TD-27 kit for several years before selling it for a small profit in 2022. I recently bought this new V2 kit which includes the revised VH-14D hi-hat; this resolved the biggest complaint I had with the previous generation as the new hi-hat has about 95% of the feel/functionality/playability of an acoustic one. However, if you add in the TD-27's kit modeling capability, that last missing 5% is more than made up for. If you can get past the kit costs (+ costs for the not-included hi-hat stand, snare stand, throne, and kick drum pedal), this is likely the most playable, most resilient, and most flexible electronic drum kit out there.

My teenage dream of owning a Roland drums kit… finally mine as an adult. This is actually my second electronic kit and also my big upgrade. I first started with a Roland TD-17KV, and even though it’s an amazing kit for beginners, in less than a month I started feeling limited by the dynamics and sensitivity. Even as a beginner, my ears could clearly notice the difference compared to an acoustic kit , especially in the lack of ghost notes and the subtle differences between each hand hit. It’s hard to explain, but I could feel I needed something more expressive. I was able to exchange and upgrade to the Roland TD-27KV2 one month later, and honestly… I’m completely in love with it. She’s absolutely beautiful, powerful, inspiring, and sounds incredible. Mine also has a small custom touch. Back when I had the TD-17, I bought an extra snare pad hoping to achieve more sensitivity and realism, but since the TD-17 module couldn’t fully support those features, it didn’t make any sound difference at the time. When I got the TD-27KV2, I replaced it with the original TD-27 tom and added this extra pad as an additional tom, and honestly it made the whole kit look even cooler and fuller. The sound quality is incredible, the dynamics feel so much more natural, and playing this kit truly inspires me every time I sit down to practice. I may still be a beginner player, but even without playing perfectly yet, my ears can feel and hear the difference. And that made all the difference for me. 🖤🥁
