Great All-Rounder
Pros: • Airbrush-Ready: The paints are pre-thinned and work flawlessly with my airbrush, providing smooth and even coverage without the need for additional thinning. • Versatile Application: While designed for airbrushing, these paints also perform well with traditional brush techniques, offering flexibility in application. • Vibrant Colours: The set includes a well-curated selection of basic colours that are highly pigmented, ensuring vibrant and consistent results. • User-Friendly: The dropper bottles are convenient, allowing for precise dispensing and minimising waste. • Low Odour and Easy Cleanup: Being water-based, these paints have minimal odour and clean up easily with water, making them ideal for indoor use. Cons: • Drying Time: Some colours take longer to dry, which can be a minor inconvenience during extended painting sessions. • Colour Range: While the set covers basic colors, it lacks certain shades like bright oranges and yellows, which may require additional purchases for specific projects. Overall, the Vallejo Model Air Basic Paint Set offers excellent quality and value, especially for those new to airbrushing or seeking reliable paints for various modeling projects. Its ease of use and consistent performance make it a worthwhile investment for hobbyists and professionals alike.

Great selection of paints, good pigmentation and quality
Bought this pack of 16 for my dad - he wanted a few different colours and I pointed out this pack existed. For the price it was he was happy to pay for it as he knew he’d use all the colours it contained. He seems to like the Vallejo brand for use with his model buses and trucks as he finds the applications easy to apply. I know he uses an airbrush too but not sure if he waters them down or not (I think he does). The colour pigmentation of the paints comes across well, and when they dry they don’t seem to lose the colour they appear as when a liquid. Lids are a solid twist open close so it keeps them well sealed and will likely last him about 6 months before he will need another set.

Overall excellent - just not for white priming
I ordered these to undercoat some models (I'm aware they're not designed for priming). I have an average quality airbrush and a decent compressor. I first mixed a deep red, thinned it with water and sprayed it directly onto some plastic models. Great! Quick-drying, opaque and smooth. Then I mixed a orange flesh tone, thinned with water, again directly onto plastic. Good results, not fully opaque. Painted some on top with a brush afterwards, worked well enough. Next a black / blue mix with a touch of brown and grey. Thinned with isopropyl alcohol because I hoped the airbrush would be easier to clean. Really good results, separated after being stored in the pot but came out of the airbrush nice and even. I tried to clean up a mistake later and a little of the undercoat rubbed off. Amazing how opaque it was when so thin, so I can forgive the low durability. Lastly I tried to undercoat in pure white. Thinning with isopropyl alcohol made it thicker, clogging the airbrush. Cleaned airbrush and tried water, but it was too thin and formed droplets on the plastic. Lastly I tried higher pressure with less water which worked better but the airbrush would splatter a bit. Overall, these have worked great since they're not designed as primers but are still versatile and opaque. I have only used a little as a second coat, so am mainly reviewing these from experience directly on plastic.

Good specialty paints, odd selection of colours
I really like the Vallejo air paints, they work well over a white, grey or white zenithal undercoat, even when used with a normal brush. I wouldn't want to use these paints over a black basecoat (at least not by normal brush) because they are nowhere near as opaque as regular model paints. For that reason I also wouldn't recommend them as someone's first or only model paints. I'm a bit baffled by the choice of colours in this selection box -nearly half the box is various shades of yellow and brown, some of which are extremely similar to each other. I would have liked it if the Light Brown and Yellow Ochre had been dropped for something like a purple and a dark red instead, add a bit more variety instead. This lack of variety is why I'm giving it 4/5 instead of 5/5.

Really great product!
I just got this set the other day and had the chance to try some out earlier and I definitely recommend these paints. I only used Black and Light Grey to base coat and slightly highlight some miniatures. Based with black and made two mixes with the Grey and found that they mixed really well. Both colours went through my airbrush smoothly ... I did find that I'd get a little drying on the tip of the needle but that was very quickly solved with a quick wipe with damp kitchen roll. I tried thinning with a couple of drops of water to alleviate this but then found that I was getting too fast a flow. Please bear in mind that I'm quite new to miniature airbrushing so my issues might just be down to my lack of experience, however, I did find my technique improved. But, yeah, buy some!!!

great starter kit
I ordered these for us to try out with our airbrush and Im well impressed. They are mixed to exactly the right consistancy - which means I dont have to mess around watering down our acrylic paints. This is the basic set with all the primary colours in and obviously some browns and greens. Dont be put off by the picture on Amazon which shows the military set as the picture is wrong. Using the coulours in the set you should be able to mix any colour you want so its a great starter kit. This probably isnt the cheapest way to paint but its a good idea to get one of these when you start up. It shows you the thickness you need your paints and gives you the confidence to go on and mix your own. Happy spraying!

Great
Bought these to accompany my new airbrush, was frustrated initially because they sent me the model colour version of the set, i decided to keep it to top up my existing Vallejo paints and re-order the air colours. Upon using them they have been fantastic, I painted some cheapo fantasy models up in vibrant core colours to see how they looked and they look brilliant crisp and matt. Cant fault Vallejo paints I'm a massive fan boy. If I was to make any issue, it would be simply with the paints being thinner than traditional game paints, therefor you can go through a bottle quite quickly if doing a large project.
