My son bought this for himself but his laptop is not fast enough or compatable. What can he do to get it working. Would an external hard drive do?

The only version of Elgato that needs USB 3.0 is this one that he bought, which I guess his laptop doesn't have. Almost no 4+ years old laptop has it.The cheapest Elgato (just HD, not HD60) would be more than enough for most people - I have it and it does everything I need, just doesn't record 1080p60, which most games don't even have. If you can't afford a new and better laptop, or at least one with USB 3.0, it might be a good idea to get it instead.EDIT: Mind you that only Elgato HD60 S needs USB 3.0, the HD60 doesn't need it either.

Once I clip something on it, can I watch the clip on my nintendo switch?

You can't on your switch but u can on Ur pc because that'll be where it is saved.

does it work on windows 10?

Only on 19H1 versions or older Does not work on the latest 20H1 versions of Windows 10

will this work on a laptop with just a intel pentium inside ?
