My kids love it. there is 3 cards to put into it that rest against the metal bits of the wheels and thats how it makes the noise. Each card has a different noise level on it. You can certainly hear them coming when its in use. You can also keep the exhaust on the bike without a card in so its silent. It doesn't have to be taken on and off all the time Review: Great but watch your kids closley when they are appling the stickers - I bought 2 of these. One was for my 8yr old daughter who sensibly applied the stickers and then once on her bike loved the motorbike noise it makes. The other was a christmas gift for my 5yr old nephew who applied his stickers when and when mummy turned her back he decided to put a sticker inside the exhaust resulting in his arm becoming stuck. Soap and water would not budge it. Luckly the plastic is thin and was easily cut with a pair of kitchen sissors. desertcart customer service were extremily helpful and have issued a refund for my nephew to buy another (this time mummy will watch him closer). (Carrera hellcat)** A: The bit that sits in the bar is L shaped. It has a rubber that cussions between the bike and the L shape plastic and then plastic ties secure it **Q: Can we here the noise it makes?** A: Yes it does make a noise. It is absolutely not worth the money though and my sons kept falling down and stopped making the noise **Q: Can this be fitted to a balance bike?** A: I don't see why not, as it is just fixed to the back stay and the spokes make the noise. That part of a small bike and balance bike are the same. **Q: Can this go on a 12 inch bike** A: Yes, don’t see why not. My grandsons bike was bigger, but it should be ok.
