I have a tiny chip in the coating from the multiple times I've dropped it, I'm respectful of my tools but I certainly don't 'baby' them.The entire thing, except mentioned, is still pristine and I'm sure it still will be after another 2 years.I've spent a long time looking for good torches but since I purchased this I have bought 1 other and I never used it.It's around the same length as a standard pen and a bit wider, it is very comfortable however you choose to hold it and the button feels very positive and honestly, quite satisfying to use.The 5 presets are very useful and have obviously been thought about intelligently, they don't seem so save the last preset I used when I switch it off though.This torch is built to last, it's looks and feels very high quality and frankly I'm not sure how they can be selling it so cheap, the chrome liner around the bulb has the orange peel-like texture which results in a very smooth and even beam.The beam itself has an incredible throw, I haven't had the chance to max out it's distance yet, which to me is very impressive.The beam is also pretty wide and allows you to see a lot if using it to navigate.Shine it at the ceiling on max brightness and it lights up the entire room, not dimly either.As for the waterproofing, me being me, I had to test it so I left it in the sink all night and it was fine the next day, so I wouldn't worry about water at all, I wouldn't recommend scuba diving though, but who knows? It's a tough cookie.Battery life is pretty good, I have to change the batteries maybe 2-3 times a year and I use it every day, usually on 'low' setting, which is still brighter than a lot of torches.I can't even call this a budget torch because it's done so well with good materials, it just has a low price.In short, this is the only torch you're likely to ever need, get one, maybe two. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect penlight! *by P***A on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 December 2018* Well, perfect is a matter of opinion, but this one is about as good as you could want. The Ti construction both looks good, and is very hard wearing, batteries are a perfect fit, there’s no rattling or flickering, and the modes cycle through easily. I often have to inspect ex-lease cars being delivered for repair/refurbishment in the dark during the winter, this flashlight fits neatly into an external sleeve on a belt pouch, and I can grab it quickly, and I can grip it in my fingers when taking photos, as the tablets we are given have no flash on the camera! I’ve tried headlamps and folding small flashlights in my mouth, but the tablet blocks some of the light, with this one I can hold it by the side of the tablet, cycle through the brightness levels and take a photo. It’s the best light I’ve found of its type, and battery life is pretty good as well. Really couldn’t be happier. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Decent Torch *by C***N on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 October 2018* I specifically wanted a 2x AAA torch to use at work as a service engineer. The slim profile makes it handy for keeping in a tool roll, and also for carrying in a shirt or trouser pocket.First impressions are good, both the fit and finish are excellent. I’ve previously had a Thrunite T10 a few years ago, and if this Ti4 is anything to go by, then I would say Thrunite have actually upped their game a bit. The anodising is very nicely done, with no visible flaws. The is finish is completely smooth which may put some people off, but the lack of knurling means it doesn’t catch on clothing.The UI is simple enough, a reverse clickiy tail switch, and four modes, Firefly, Low, and High, and Strobe after the 2nd full mode cycle. It switches on to Firefly, which can be slightly annoying if, like me, you only tend to use the high mode, but it does have a memory, albeit for only about 8 seconds. The tail switch itself is metal, but feels just little bit sloppy, and can rattle a bit in the “off” position. However, in five months of regular use, it’s worked perfectly.In use, the beam is more floodlight than spotlight, so is more suited to close up tasks, but is more than capable of general purpose use, car, home, pocket, tool box etc. I mainly use “High” mode for looking into machines, but “Low” is perfectly fine for regular use. “Firefly” is really very dim, which is really useful for certain situations.The one thing that lets this torch down is the fact that it doesn’t perform as advertised. According to the specs, this torch will output 252 lumens for 51minutes. In reality it does nothing like it.It seems the output and runtimes for this torch are obtained in accordance with the industry standard ANSI FL1. This standard was brought about by torch manufacturers to combat the ridiculously exaggerated claims that some manufactures makes of their products. However, ANSI FL1 can be misleading itself.In order to claim 252 lumens for 51 minutes, the torch only has to output 252 lumens for between 30 seconds and 3 minutes, after which time the output can drop until it’s at 10% of the maximum, so for this torch, 25 lumens. This is when most people would be looking at changing the batteries, apparently, and this is when they stop the clock.Independent tests have shown that this torch will put out 252 lumens for about 30 seconds, and will then drop to just under 200 lumens, which is maintained for about 35-40 minutes, and then will drop out of regulation. My own findings are similar, and I get decent output for about 35 minutes with Eneloop Pros (900mah) and a few minutes less with regular Eneloops (750mah).So, instead of 252 lumens for 51 minutes, what you really get is about 200 lumens for 35 minutes.
