When Round 2 rereleased the Eagle last year I grabbed another two and was delighted that the special edition was to be released. Although not freely available in the UK a trip to the USA allowed me to acquire the kit. On opening the box the plastic looked very shiny and lightweight although it seems very sturdy. The new resin parts are extremely crisp and well crafted. The expanded decal sheet from last years release is added to by a second smaller sheet of markings for the extra booster section. The original part moulds - now some 40 years old - look clean and there is no flash or loss of detail. The new parts are very detailed. Whilst the original is only about 80% accurate, the decals go someway to adding to the realism of the kit and it builds into a handsome model that will grace any Space 1999 fan or indeed model enthusiast's collection. Lets hope it sells enough for Round 2 to issue a 23" accurate kit that was mooted in 2014

Awesome version of a familiar kit
This kit, as far as the Eagle, is the same MPC / Fundimensions kit we all know from over the years. But this special issue includes the parts to make the Lab Pod and the Booster Pack. The added extra parts are in resin, but don't let that stop you from building this kit. The parts are made from white resin. These parts are so well made, you would swear they were plastic. Mold lines are no where to be seen (on my example). I've built several resin models, and I really wonder how they made these parts. They are incredible. The model still includes the standard pod that comes with all the Eagle kits, so there are actually 2 pods in the box. The decal sheet is fairly large from past issues in the 70's and 80's, but is the same one in the regular Eagle kit recently reissued just before this one. The all new directions include how to build and install the resin parts. Round2 has a home run with this kit. (note that a CY / Super Glue should be used on the resin parts, such as Zap-A-Gap, which Amazon carries). Be sure and wash the resin parts with warm water, and primer them before painting.

Good kit with some great elements... and some noticeable shortcomings
This is overall a good kit but has some shortcomings. First off, I will say that the subject is great: the eagle lander with laboratory pod and thrusters was always one of my favorite ship designs. when I saw this available, I jumped at it. This multi-media kit has a re-release of an older, styrene 12" eagle lander with additional parts in resin for the additions of the laboratory-pod and booster. The resin parts are absolutely superb: fantastic, sharp detail, superbly engineered (with none of the shortcomings common to resin-builds (warping, air bubbles, etc). The downside is that the eagle lander itself (being a re-release of an older kit I believe) does not match in quality, accuracy and detail, the resin parts... which is a real shame. (this is especially noticeable in the support spine and the overly simplistic fuselage compartments that connect the cockpit, support spine, rear fuel-tanks. with the laboratory pod. Compared with the slightly larger 14 inch 1/72 scale lander also by MPC-round two, I wonder why they didn't use that kit as the basis to have the Laboratory/Booster Eagle kit re-released.

Great kit
This is a great kit with options to how you want to build it. The resin pieces are well detailed. It comes with the original container also. Great kit with lots of possibilities. Would buy again and highly recommend.๐
