is the waste switch on this sturdy enough? It looks quite flimsy.

It's a stainless steel rod. Mind's been installed about 8 months now and it feels sturdy enough to me. I hope this helps.

What kind of adaptor will I need to fit these to UK fittings?

Hi, I used part code 63663 from toolstation, it converts the tap tail into a 15mm pipe that you can put into an isolation valve or standard 15mm fittinghttp://www.toolstation.com/shop/Plumbing/d20/Flexible+Connectors/sd2807/Tap+Tail+Adaptors/p63663

How noisy is this in operation? Bathroom is next to child's bedroom.

Eee... What? Water flowing through your pipes are going to be much noisier than the tap.

Is the pop up waste included?

Yes it is included, with a pull lever assembly which sits at the back of the tap, I had to mount the lever a bit lower so that there was enough space to pull it up and not hit the tiles behind it. Hope that helps
