I sell my artwork at conventions and needed a card reader - I was wary after another brand completely failed me, but this one was excellent. The setup was very simple - I already had a Square account, so I just downloaded the app, logged in and connected the reader via bluetooth. The app allows you to view all your transactions in one place, and even lets you add product listings so you can quickly add them to a sale on the spot. I do multibuy offers and sometimes have reductions for ex-display items, so I chose to just manually put the price in for each sale. All you do to process a transaction is put in the item or price, press 'charge', and then hand the reader to the customer. They can use contactless, or put their card in the reader and enter their PIN on your phone (or whatever device you have it connected to). The 1.75% fee is fairly competitive as well. I used this in the London ExCel center, which is notorious for poor signal, and it only lost connection once in three days. The battery also lasted a solid two days with me taking transactions at least every 20 mins or so. There's an extra device with it for taking swipe cards which plugs into your headphone socket, but none of my customers had swipe cards so I didn't get to try it. Overall, I would definitely recommend this reader for small businesses who need to move into making card payments available.

The reader is great. Easy to use and great battery life. Signing up was a pain but got it sorted in the end. Definitely recommend though.

It made my business a lot more quicker. So i'm an electrician, and now I can actually take card payments on site.

Was using the Sum Up portable card reader and was happy with it but preferred this because I am a big fan of Square for taking payments over the phone and for sending clients a link to make payment. But this card reader is dreadful. It has no display on it and only a few small lights. It’s not very clear that it’s actually on. There’s nothing on the device for the client to see what they are tapping to. Then it started switching itself off before the payment would go through so stopped working at all. I’ve gone back to Sum Up. Their card reader a clear display and numbers on the device is 100 times better.
