Review: Value for money - Great in my 307 external canister does what it's suppost to. My go to bio media great value for money. Helps with water quality. And is very effective in growing good bacteria on., nice big size and lasts years.
Review: Great Sintered Glass Bio Media, with a proper high absorption rate - I have this media for some time now. What I can say about it, it does indeed absorb water very well. Sintered glass is a really good idea for bio media. I have this mixed with hydroponic pebbles in my SUNSUN 704B Filter. I have three massive trays filled with this and the clay pebbles and the fourth tray as mechanical. I have no issues with bacteria sorting out my nitrogen cycle during any stage of maintenance or water changes. The one bit of advice I would like to give about this product or any other static biomedia is to make sure you're mechanical filtration is hit first coming into your pump ((Course / Medium / Fine) => and then the biomedia. You certainly do not want this getting hit with debris and block it up. If this happens you can always soak the media in H202! It will clean and clear up the pores. The last thing I have to say about this product, it that is is cheap for what it is!!! It's proper sintered glass, with a high density of pores to absorb water. Other media out there that does the exact same thing can be very expensive.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this go out of date if unused?**
A: No, they are ceramic so they don't go out of date.

**Q: Does this work with Fluval u3 internal filter?**
A: Yes the two are compatible

**Q: Should I put the polishing pads in my filter before or after these rings?**
A: I appreciate this is an old question but I wanted to provide an accurate answer.
The order of filtration depends on the type/model of filter you have. Some flow water from the top down, others from the bottom up. You should use coarse sponge first to mechanically filter large bits of diet e.g. plant leaves. Then your fine sponge/floss as this is also mechanical filtration. Next is your chemical filtration like carbon (but you should only use this for removing medication; it's not necessary if you set your tank up correctly). Finally your biological filtration I.e. ceramic rings.

**Q: Do I actually need these for a cold/fresh water tank?**
A: They are a good addition to any filter cold or fresh water, as they provide a large surface area that nitrifying (good bacteria) can attach to, to reduce dangerous ammonia (urine) excreted by fish. However frequent water changes will also help whether or not this media is used in your tank. Google the nitrogen cycle in aquarium for more details. Hope this helps.
