This is by far one of my top purchases / acquisitions I made. Among the things I have noted about the MSR Dromedary, these are the biggest strengths. Durability- By far the biggest selling point for me. The Camelbak bladders I used to use had no reinforcement, and would pop under a little bit of weight. That is a major issue when you consider the bladder is in a rucksack packed for an operation. The Dromedary, on the other hand, is reinforced and is near impossible to pop (from my experience). Capacity- The Dromedary has a variety of sizes, I have the 4L. That gave me 33 percent more water than my old water bladder while still fitting into my bladder pouch on my pack (although it is a tight fit when full). Water Flow & Leakage- I not noted any leakage aside from minor leaking at times if I do not tighten the screw cap on all the way. Water flow from the hose (from the conversion kit) is perfect. I haven't had issues with it getting kinked or knotted much, which would reduce or stop water flow. Straps- The Dromedary has heavy duty straps that outline its edges, which I have used to be able to secure it into packs and pouches in multiple fashions. Overall, this is one of my favorite purchases I have made as far as my gear goes. The reason being is that air will still permeate the bladder and eventually lead to microbial growth. For long term trips where you will be consuming and refilling the water it's fine as the water is being rotated. That prevents it from going bad or developing a plastic taste. Also you can use them for solids like food protecting it from rodents if needed. An added plus is that when I take these camping or hunting I can toss them in the back of a truck or ATV without worrying about them getting punctured or leaking with other gear on top of it. Whatever you decide make sure you properly treat your water before any long term storage. Municipal water despite being treated is not sterile and will go bad and develop bio-film in about 3 months. I use Aquamira to treat all 8 of my water bricks after I fill them up and they are still fine after a year. I still flush and refill all after a year just to rotate it, but I have one brick that I've left as a test for 5 years now and the water is still good when I check it about ever 6 months. **Q: Compared to the msr dromlite, how small does this fold up to?** A: I would say it would fold to approximately 4"x 4"x4" for the largest size bladder. Their cordura bags are the strongest I have seen, and they have the best features with their caps. I usually still carry a canteen, with cup, for camping, so I just use my dromedary to hang up and wash hands or refill my canteen.
