Presumably it is just badly designed or built. I overcame the problem by cannibalising the squirting mechanism from an almost empty spray of similar design and fit. Of course, that works so that you can use the contents but doesn't address the design. I was going to complain until I realised what a common fault it was with the product and concluded that it was no use knocking if there's no-one in!
