Not sure how long it'll last given the wear that the wind will place on the shutter's basic hinges, but Time will tell. Very easy to retro fit if you have the access, so recommended. I use a sprung butterfly type and the spring is not strong enough which is why I'asking, thanks** A: It relays on gravity mine dose the job I rate it 5 * **Q: My years old solid duct pipe through a wall is 4" (102mm) od, with an id of 98mm. this connector clearly won't fit, is there another solution?** A: This connector is designed to join two sections of vent pipe hence the raised section which locates between the two pipe ends• To fit this unit into a single pipe as in a normal bathroom vent fan it is necessary to remove the raised portion of the annular ring to reduce the diameter• i used a file and it fitted perfectly, silicon sealant can be used to fix the location within the tube. The tube has to be concentric otherwise the unit will be crushed and will not operate. **Q: On a bathroom fan extractor assembly through a loft is it necessary to tape up the joints and if so, what's the best tape to use?** A: If your joining the tube to extraction fan and oven extraction i used a cable tie.
