Having fiddled and adjusted as much as I could over the years I decided to bite the bullet and splash out (no puns...) on a whole new set. This arrived the next day. There are some instructions but it's very self explanatory to replace like-for-like. I was lucky that the seal on the basket was still good so I could leave that in situ and just replace the rest of the flush valve. A simple spanner turn for the fill valve replacement saw the new set in place in no time - and no more trickles! Got a plumber to fit it.
