Honestly , the only way I can describe the sound is , it sounds more full and has more presence , the bass doesn’t sound boomy it gives it more punch and brings out more highs in songs and just sounds nicer overall. Its use for me is in a studio where it takes the final mix and sorts out clarity. So that mastering is not really needed. The straight recording is good when it comes out this rack unit. Note all io is TRS balanced or XLR. No TS available. The unit introduces no noise. the effect bypass button does bump a bit but nothing that could blow speakers. I found that there are no balance issues with pot positions n stereo use. It can sound a little gritty if pushed too hard. But I think this is a great creative tool to have, in a studio setting; like running it through vinyl samples before hitting an Akai MPC etc. it is also very easy to use because it is simple in its function. The build quality is good for the price it’s just that the knobs are plastic and very cheap feeling. But I suppose they can be replaced with aluminium ones. In conclusion I happy for the price I paid for this item £52 as it gives me a option to colour my audio in a way a VST plugin cannot I.e a plugin will sound harsh when pushed, this doesn’t.
