The design is only one the front of the lighter. **Q: Is this lighter engraved and smooth or is it textured?** A: It is engraved but I used a nail buffer to smooth and polish it, it was a textured, much more than I imagined. **Q: could you tell me if this Zippo venetian slim line lighter is gas or petrol ?** A: Petrol. I'm not a smoker so I bought this for lighting my hand warmer and using during outdoor activities like camping. This is my first Zippo and I have to say that I was slightly disappointed with the quality of the construction for something that is a premium product. The edges are not well finished and there were scratches on the insert. Apparently the flame is wind proof but I blew it out quite easily. It's a simple construction with no extra features like waterproof or air tight seals like I have had on some of my outdoor lighters but then I guess there's not much that can go wrong with this lighter either. And if it does break Zippo will fix it under their guarantee. It seems like it should be a durable product and it's nice to look at too. I reckon it will last a lot longer than the fancy turbo flame lighters I've bought in the past.
