Thanks** A: 9/16" refers to the thread diameter (the bit that screws into your cranks) all adult bikes with the exception of BMX bikes use a 9/16" thread, BMX and some children’s bikes use the slightly smaller 1/2" thread. The only difference is that the +4mm axle is needed if you have very wide feet. I have wide feet and use the normal size.
