I do a lot of gardening but am a med/sm woman. should i get the f6 instead? i have smaller pruning shears but need something for larger cuts.

Th Felco F-8 is perfect for my small hands as the leverage it delivers is far better than the typical shears. My Corona are disposed of after receiving the Felco as the Corona has far inferior steel in the blade where it counts the most. The Corona also uses far to many delrin or plastic parts that fall apart in modest use.
As mentioned by others, using a Felco lopper for the larger stems is a wise decision.

Is the F-8 now made in China?

No. I just looked on the new F-8 I bought and it is marked Swiss made. Have  been using  it and it works great. It was a replacement for one I had for over 25 years.

Just received my new pruners. Had to go to Utube to find out how to unlock. The thumb lock for blade is tight. is it ok to oil?

Felco is one of the finest pruner made. I have been a professional gardener for 42 years. You may need to slightly loosen the locking screw on the thumb lock. You should have received a tool for doing this with your Felco pruner. You can oil any part of the pruner. If you prune shrubs or trees with a lot of sap, you should clean the sap build on the blades every few hours with a light sand paper and sharpen the blade with a Felco blade sharpener. If you sharpen on a regular basis it will only take a few seconds. Sometimes, like every few months, the pruner should be takin apart and sanded in between moving parts and oiled. I use WD40.
