Top Notch Work Bench
Exceptional work bench, really solid, set up in seconds, I've no doubt it can take the claimed 200kg and look great doing it. Proper heavy duty metal and wood, none of this modern plastic nonsense and despite being fairly sizable it's much easier to use and manage than other metal benches, such as a top of the line B&D Workmate. Very pleased with this purchase.

Good Product - Very Pleased.
Delivered quickly by Yodel to North Essex (Saffron Walden). Arrived in Bosch box in good condition. Simply unpacked it, had a quick glimpse at the instruction book just to be sure and opened bench out ready for work in seconds, it was as easy as that. Nothing to put together, no additional tools, easy to operate and light to carry yet feels strong. Ingenious design by Bosch. Simple to collapse and fold away, no getting fingers caught or struggling, it's a very easy bench to operate and finished to a high standard. Made in India written on box but don't let that put you off buying one of these, this is typical German quality. Very slim when stowed. My wife will be able to operate this with ease it's so simple to set up and take down. Has a very large bench top when open, giving a nice big flat work surface. The red plastic clamps which fit into the ready made holes of the work top can be stored underneath on the framework in purpose made holes, a feature I like because you know where they are and are easy to retrieve when you want to use them. Has a useful indent/tray area at the front for leaving a pencil or some screws while you are working. Handles work well and I noticed that the threaded bar connected to them and the vice/worktop even has a dab of grease on to keep it running smoothly. Being a keen DIY 56 year old with a lot of projects on the go including constructing a decking verandah outside our new conservatory, I think this will prove to be a good purchase and because of the build quality it will probably see me out! I recommend this product. UPDATE.3/6/13. Had this for a week now and have used it mostly for sawing 4 x 2 timber. I have to agree with a previous reviewer who said that it wobbled about when he was sawing wood. This is because of the excellent height of the bench and the fact that it has many joints in the fold out/in legs. I'm still glad I bought it. It's quality. I have since also purchased a B&D 301 from Amazon at a very good price. This is slightly more stable than this Bosch 600 when sawing wood, but the height is too low for me. I was put off buying the B&D 536 or 825 by all the negative views, but now I'm wondering??

Bosch PWB 600 - Fantastic
I had almost given up on finding a proper folding workbench. Like many I have given-up on the original Black & Decker range since whey introduced the cheap plastic caps that the threads screw into, as these break all too often. Indeed the B&D range is so cheaply made that they provide no meaningful service life. The Draper, Clarke and Sealey versions are no better, although the Woolcraft range has some redeeming features but lacks outright strength. But the new Bosch PWB 600 is in a different league to them all. The machining, fit and finish of the load-bearing parts is incredible. The folding action is super smooth, easy to accomplish and produces either a stable platform or an ultra thin square shape for easy storage. The extra large top deck is welcome, as is the use of bamboo and you can even snug-up a stool or similar as the overhang at the rear can cater for your knees. The dogs are well made, do the business and stow away at the rear of the lower green bar with the Bosch logo. Of equal quality is the tool tray, which is a well finished metal tray that should cope with robust use and it does not get in the way. The black bar near floor level means you can slip a foot or toe on it to provide extra stability when wrestling with more challenging project. Hard to find many negatives, but being picky I would have liked the imbedded metal ruler to fit flush with the surface and have inches as well as metric. A slightly larger span to clamp larger parts, without resorting to the dogs, would have been nice too. Clearly designed with the professional in mind, the price (given the quality) will attract the premium end of the DIY market. For the DIYers that have suffered a failure of the other types of workbench should look at this too, whatever their budget. A must have item for the mobile professional or the DIYer who is looking for a product built to last - fantastic!

1Yr Update!!Could be improved to be made the Best portable workbench in the world!
No doubt as everyone else does I read all the reviews on different work benches.I was prepared to pay a premium to get a really good bench,as with most things in the long run it is actually more economical to buy the best you can in the beginning.I nearly didn't buy this bench due to the negatives i read on stability issues, however regardless of this i continued with my purchase on the grounds of my excellent history with Bosch products. The Bench is indeed incredibly easy to erect, and has a very low profile to stow away. The first thing that REALLY impressed me was the Bamboo worktops,AND the large worktop area, the Bamboo will be weather proof, and very durable well done Bosch! The clamping dogs stow on the plastic cross brace, again great idea! There is a storage tray for a tape + pencils etc-It is covered when the bench is open, however this is not a fault just a design constraint. The bench is very simple to uproot and move around with great locking mechanisms, its light and very easy to manoeuvre in and out of a vehicle/van,the clamping mechanism & handles seem well constructed,i haven't forced them but i take it from the fact the handle gets tight that the clamping must be done parallel, again i appreciate that mechanically the mechanism would be a lot weaker to allow this articulation of the top. Finally Stability/Build Like I said this Bench has many great qualities over others, the actual worktop being the very best I've seen by far. However after three months of use i can confirm this bench does have stability issues, even on level ground with all legs firmly seated there is flex in the legs, which causes a twisting in the framework with vigorous sawing etc. This somewhat shocked me in the early stages of ownership,to the point of nearly returning it.Why didn't I? Well like i said this bench does have lots going for it,so much so that i have kept it.Bosch should have made the aluminium legs of a thicker wall material and i think this would have resolved the issue, its aluminium so wouldn't have added much weight. The stability doesn't cause me any issues with smaller tasks,& general woodwork,Im a contractor so this will get used quite hard from time to time-so far so good. REVIEW UPDATE!!! Sadly as thought after time 6 Months this bench has started to fall apart,I'm constantly retightening screws & tweaking things,NO WAY could you ever carry out heavy sawing on this,it would definitely buckle and fall apart.Ive purely given this three stars, because some of this bench is excellent! IE the bamboo work tops, the way it quickly folds up into a very small space, the work top area is large.Treat this bench with kid gloves,as its fragile-Bosch is falling apart at the seams to be producing stuff like this! Bosch at one time always meant quality! PLEASE READ!!! 1Yr Update! Ok My review stands as before,However I can confirm after a year of use,NOTHING has actually broken or fallen apart, although I do CONSTANTLY have to tighten things up,screws come loose all the time.Ive upgraded my rating from 3 - 4 stars because of this. This bench has many, many good qualities.Ive left this out in the rain for a week! with NO adverse effects or issues with the bench.I really really hope BOSCH bring out an improved bench,I will be first in the que!! Its very easy to collapse & fold,& takes up hardly any room. Please Please BOSCH make the legs a little tighter & from thicker material & use different fasteners.

Work Matey Plus!
I am very impressed with the Bosch version of the Black and Decker Workmate (which I used to own and this replaces for me) as it really is a well engineered and properly product designed item. The folding action is very easy and results in a sturdy platform for working on; which is the main requirement after all! In terms of materials the use of Aluminium rather than sheet steel for the frame means that there is no paint finish to chip and go rusty (if kept outside in a shed), no sharp edges and also results in a lighter item to carry around. I think the folded depth is a bit less that the Workmate too. I was intrigued by the use of Bamboo for the worktop pieces and they do seem to be very dense and harder that the usual plywood used for these surfaces so should be very durable in use. The finish on the Bamboo surfaces is quite shiny so I do find that work-pieces have a tendency to slip about so it would have been better to have a more matted finish but this will probably improve with use and wear (or you could run a bit of abrasive paper over it). I don't know if the tool tray is so useful but is handy for pencils and small tools - you can't keep things in it when the bench is folded though. One thing I did find with the tool tray is that it obstructs the front underside edge of the worktop so it is not possible to hook a clamp under the front edge which is slightly limiting in where you can position things. The only other item which might have been better is the cross bar at the front base of the frame, on the Workmate there is a full width step which you can rest a foot on to steady the bench, the Bosch one is quite flimsy so I would have liked this to be a bit sturdier so that it could perform a similar function. It's a shame that a great British invention was not further developed along these lines but that seems to be a familiar story! Really recommended if your Workmate is clapped out or you are considering a first time buy of a folding workbench.

Trotzdem muss man aufpassen: Finger-Klemmgefahr!
