This is a good quality wire but it's still really cheap compared with sterling. Silver-filled wire is more durable and also more expensive, but if you want to make small things like rings it might be worth the investment. **Q: Is this 1 mm please** A: No I'm afraid not, 20 gauge is 0.81 of a mm, if you want 1mm you should order 18 gauge. It's copper with solver plating, not pure silver. As a solder it would be a pain, pretty sure they have very different melting points and the lack of purity would cause issues. If you tried to solder anything on to this you'd just end up melting the silver plating off I think. On the spool of Artistic Wire you will see a gauge, and a width of wire - both indicate the thickness of wire. 20 gauge wire is 0.81mms thick - therefore this wire should fit a bead with a hole side of larger than 0.81mms. An alternative to add beads (e.g. with a smaller hole size) to your design would be to wrap a bead onto your 20gauge wire using a thinner wire which matches in colour (please note that this would mean purchasing a LARGER gauge wire, which is actually thinner).
