Review: Fabulously Queen Vinyl Box Set - This is a superb quality presentation of all the studio recorded Queen albums, I have all on various formats over the years and still have some first pressings on vinyl, they had done a really good job on these new pressings, real care and attention has been paid to them and it shows on the whole the results are very good indeed especially so from News Of The World onwards. I am a little disappointed with the new mix of Queen II and A Night At The Opera in particulate, I am nit picking but to me the bass eq has been lifted too much and has a detrimental effect to the overall sound quality, it becomes less dynamic and flat, its also apparent they have cleaned these early recording up and to me they are now a little too sanitized for my taste, original tape hiss is a good thing sometimes!! Back to the many positives the vinyl plays dead quiet and is flat it also looks stunning as does the covers with all the original artwork being of the highest quality, very similar to that of the Beatles Mono Box Set. The addition of the hard back book is great it is really well put together, informative and detailed. To sum up this is a super box set, the vinyl looks and sounds fantastic for the majority of people they will be 100% happy my only caveat is the slightly over zealous cleaning up of the early albums, if I want clean sanitised sound I would go for CD I don`t want it on a analogue vinyl pressing.
Review: If you like Queen, and you like Records, and you have the money, just buy it! - I've yet to open, let alone listen to, every record in this collection, but what a collection this is. It arrived extremely well packaged from desertcart. The usual fare of a box within a box within a box and lots of paper scrunched up inside to keep everything snug. Upon opening it, it's jam packed with every queen album (as you'd imagine) and a fantastic quality hard back book with excerpts about each record in the collection. It makes for fantastic reading while getting ready to drop the needle. Not only is the writing fantastic, but the photos and artwork contained within are fantastic, overall a really well put together book. On to the records which is presumably why one would buy this collection. They are all of a coloured variety. Normally, I'm not a huge fan of coloured vinyl, but these seem to work very well, and all I've listened to so far have an extremely quiet noise floor. It seems like a great deal of care has gone into the pressing and quality control of these records, it really shows and I'm extremely happy about this. I've only come across one quibble so far in my listening through of the whole collection, and that is me questioning the choice of the covers. It seems as though the cover for Queen II opens in a rather unorthadox way. I'm pretty sure that the original release of this was as a single 2 sided record, they've now split it into a White Side and a Black side, while cool, the opening of the cover itself seems as though the hinge is incorrectly placed, opening from the top rather than the side. This is a minor quibble, but if I was to for example take the record out of the box and put it on my shelf with the other records in my collection, it would look like it was on its side when displayed with the spine facing outward. A minor quibble, but a quibble none the less. I'm not going to store these on my shelf individually, but rather store them in the box, so this isn't a huge issue for me. This alone is not enough in my eyes to lose a star. Regarding the albums themselves, I'm not going to list them, nor review them. Suffice to say, if you've heard Queen albums before, these haven't changed in this packaging. If you like Queen, and you like Records, and you have the money, just buy it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great box set of a superb band
*by C***B on 20 October 2020*

This is a neat and comprehensive box set. It is clear that great effort has gone into the mastering as, although lots of Queen albums were not recorded to a gold standard, significant increases in sound quality are evident in the bass quality and control and openness in higher frequencies. The pressings done by Optimal are very good but not A1 superb. There is a bit of surface noise on most albums and a few pops and ticks that don't clean off with a record cleaning machine. I wonder if the stampers are a bit tired after they reissued these pressings. However, the sound is really good and a clear improvement over earlier pressings. Presentation is excellent with a nice box and interesting book included. Individual album sleeves are also well printed. The music speaks for itself really. A very talented band who produced a great variety of music over their career.
