Review: Great cutters - Not cheap but work perfectly. I'll never need to buy another cable/ hose cutter. Recommended.
Review: Worth the cost! - I maintain a number of cycles for myself and others when asked. Previously, I have used other manufacturers' wire cutting tools but as they were showing signs of wear, it was time to get some new ones! The main question for potential purchasers is whether the price tag is warranted. Park Tools may seem expensive (and I only own two or three) but you do get what you pay for; my Park Tools branded stuff always looks and feels well made. I used these cutters for the first time replacing gear cables on a mountain bike. They made the job a breeze - the cable cuts were clean, neat, tidy. The cables showed no sign of flattening or unravelling; this made threading the new cables through their outer casings a doddle! Cutting the outers to size produced similarly good results - there was a slight amount of flattening but this was easily fixed with a small screwdriver. Importantly for good shifting of gears, the ends of the outer casings were beautifully square. So, is around £30 too much for this tool? I think not, I think they will see some considerable use with me and it looks as if they are built to last - the cutter jaws are even adjustable to take account of wear which is a nice touch. The important thing when cutting cables for bikes is that the cut is neat with no fraying and minimal flattening these cutters meet that standard. Mangled cables and outers make the job harder and can make adjusting gears and gear changes a hit and miss affair - in that context £30 is much, much cheaper than a visit to the bike shop. My summary would be that with all tasks, the right tools really move things along and these cutters make cable changes easier. Highly recommended.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are these worth the extra price over the Draper wire rope cutters? Has anyone used both for comparison?**
A: I had a Draper wire rope cutters and I decide to return it and buy the Park Tool instead. I used the Draper on two occasions (on a hydraulic and on a mechanical brake hose) and both times it flattened the hoses...not very much, but flat enough to have to adjust the end of the hose before using it. That's why I decided to return it and go for the Park Tool which, in my opinion, should be of better quality than anything else. I did the same with other cheap tools as well, returned them and bought Park Tool tools because their quality was much better than of my first ones. The main difference between the Draper and the Park Tool is on the jaws: Draper's jaws are quite straight in comparison with Park Tool's jaws and because of this it flattens the hose when you cut it. Park Tool's jaws are round and take the shape of the hose when cuts them.

**Q: Where is this made? usa or china?**
A: The tool does not have where it was manufactured stamped or written on it and I am no longer in posession of the box it came in. As for how the cutter performs, I am very happy. It cuts cables cleanly and has a section of the handle designed for crimping.

**Q: What size are these. I'm looking for a good pocket size pair if possible**
A: Hi There. I measured these Cable Cutters. They measure 19.5 cm long X 7 cm wide. They are a good sturdy tool and cut cycle gear and brake cable + its casing like cheese! In my opinion a real good tool.

**Q: Why do I have to order at least 2 items? I only need one.**
A: could be a mistake cant see why they would think anybody would want 2 of these try a different seller, it wasn't minimum 2 items back when i got mine and price is higher too
