Is it normally louder or should I adjust somthing?

It is a very loud machine, 
The whole heavey duty line is awful 
I wouldn't waist my money , I've been sewing for over 40 years 
I wouldn't even buy this product line for a kid 
I have owned about 6 Singer machines 
So disappointed on the quality since the company sold out serval times they lost the meaning behind their name 
But this is my opinion 
I tried a few different machines from this line up trying to keep it simple for my 80 year old mom I couldn't send it back fastest enough 
Try a low end jamone at the same price point quite and smooth

Is it capable to sew sheer curtains?

The Singer 4452 has adjustable presser foot pressure so with the correct size needle it should handle this task without issues.

The Singer Heavy Duty model 4452 sewing machine is a Home sewing machine. It is capable of sewing light to medium weight marine fabrics with the proper machine settings and needle type. The main issue when sewing marine type materials will be using a treated thread. The coated or treated threads used for outdoor and marine type fabrics can leave a residue in the threading track of the machine that will hamper how the machine functions. Also there is not sufficient clearance in the hook/race area to allow for the thicker thread. The Singer Heavy Duty model 4452  sewing machine is specified for all-purpose threads and not commercial weight threads * even though it carries the name Heavy Duty. The Heavy Duty wording refers, mostly, to the larger motor and faster speed than to commercial or industrial applications

The compatible Singer Stippling, Darning & Freehand Embroidery Presser Foot (# 2500263) is available on Amazon.com.  We always recommend when using any presser foot for the first time, that you do this simple test before sewing.  1)-Attach the presser foot  2)-Lower the presser foot  3)-Hand turn the hand wheel at least 4-6 times to make sure the needle is clearing the presser foot correctly.
