Review: I just received my pasta maker and immediately opened it and made a batch of penne. Having previously watched a YouTube on using this machine I found it very easy to immediately begin using it with little need to open the manual (but yes definitely read the instructions it you aren't familiar). I made a 400g recipe and it seemed much shorter than the 18 minutes stated for the machine to finish. The machine mixed for just a few minutes then switched to extruding. The first half inch or so of pasta was a bit shaggy looking, so I cut that off immediately and tossed it but from that point on I was getting very pretty looking penne noodles at a pretty decent rate of speed. The noodles are much firmer than I expected, not delicate at all and it took some force to cut the noodles. They were not sticky either. There was a small but of dough left in the machine at the end but not much. It actually seemed to be very little waste to me. The machine itself is quieter than I expected. Less noisy than my stand mixer. I ended up undercooking the pasta just because I was paranoid it would end up overcooked since it was "fresh" and not dry pasta. So it was a bit chewy but that is my fault. Some of the left over noodles that sat in the pot while we ate supper continued cooking and I tasted them after and they were perfect! So next time I will cook the penne longer than 8 minutes. It is thick enough it can handle a longer cooking time. My kids love pasta and this met with their approval. They both cleaned their plates. Cleanup wasn't too bad. I used the tool to get the bits of dough out of the shaper disc pretty easily and just wiped off the dried on bits from the rest of the parts. They flaked off with ease. Then I tossed everything in the dishwasher. I am very pleased with the narrow width of this machine. That is what made me end up buying this compact model over the larger model. The difference in capacity is only slightly less but it takes up significantly less counter/storage space. No regrets, this is just the right size. I look forward to trying many more types of pasta.

**Q: Can I place dough I've prepared myself in the machine?**
A: In my experience the answer is "No". The preparation of dough and its extrusion as pasta is a one continous process. The extrusion begins even before the dough "forms". It actually only forms very loosely. I have not tried putting dough in the machine. **Q: Has anyone successfully made gluten free pasta in this pasta maker? I saw gluten free flour at the stores and was hoping to use this to make noodles.**
A: Just tried it tonight, following advice to reduce liquid slightly. Used chickpea flour, water, and egg, and we were very happy with the results.

**Q: Can I use dishwasher to wash it?**
A: All your Philips pasta maker's accessories and all detached parts are dishwasher safe.However, based on user experience, Philips always recommends washing parts by hand quickly after use whenever possible since this would help maintaining their optimal endurance over time.

**Q: Is there any update on when more discs will be available for the compact model? I got this as a gift and was hoping there were more discs**
A: There is a large selection of discs now available on Etsy.

I just received my pasta maker and immediately opened it and made a batch of penne. Having previously watched a YouTube on using this machine I found it very easy to immediately begin using it with little need to open the manual (but yes definitely read the instructions it you aren't familiar). It was purchased at amazon.sg (Singapore). The country uses 220V/50Hz. The product is 120V/60Hz. There is no mention on product description about the voltage. Zero warnings on the purchasing process. How come?
