You don't need luck, you need a Pentax.
I just had to use Pentax's old advert slogan from the 80's.I have had Canon's and Nikon's through a range of digital cameras. However I eventually decided to go back to my photographic roots and buy a Pentax, the last I had being a Pentax MX.I immediately remembered why I liked Pentax back in the day.Build quality is superb. Second to none good metal feel and not light weight plasticky feel that I had with Canon.Lenses are superb, only real issue being that other companies seem to be/have ditching Pentax mounts.Love the KP, quality feel and superb photos. It has made me discover photography again and have invested in new digital lenses but also some old K manual lenses, which produce superb quality pictures, and cheap to buy. Always worth remembering.Maybe not he fastest focusing and most focus points, but seriously how many do you really need !!!!We was happy with split screen focussing 35 years ago, and it worked.Love the camera, love the system. Love it. Enjoyment is back.I bought the KP for ยฃ549 body only.To me that was a bargain.Buy one and enjoy.

Not a run of the mill digital camera.
A comparatively compact camera but very solid, with features only found on very expensive models from the other mainstream makers. In a way more like a traditional film SLR in feel and looks which isn't a bad thing. Water resistance and in body stabilizaition are key features whilst the astro tracing function is unique to Pentax cameras. Image quality is excellent. Buy a spare battery though. It isn't compact for nothing.

Great camera continues the Pentax tradition
I bought this camera after having a Pentax K5 for 10 years and being very pleased with it. Decided it was time to upgrade just due to technology moving on in that time. I haven't been disappointed. It is even smaller than the K5, which was already a very small DSLR, but still fits neatly into the hand and doesn't feel too small. It was s bit confusing re whether it would come with the 3 grips or just the small one. In fact it came with all 3 and that was handy as I much prefer the largest of them. The build quality is right up there, it is solid, has a nice weight to it, and all the buttons and switches move well and feel secure. The image quality is excellent right out of the camera and that's before I've really played with all the additional elements like the AA filter simulator or pixel-shift corrected and so on. Clearly its a great boon to be able to match this with any Pentax K-mount lens going back decades - you really have to give Pentax huge credit for that compatibility. It really does beg for a small pancake type lens to be attached though because when you combine this with the small camera body it turns this into a great travel camera, something DSLR's have never really been. Still yet to play with many of the myriad options on this camera, and enjoying doing so slowly over a period of time.I'm a huge fan of Pentax and a huge fan of dials and switches on cameras, so this is right up my street. As of launch this camera was best in its class (APS-C) for high-iso, low-light photography and I have to say it is phenomenal! Sure the headline grabbing 819200 setting isn't really useful, and neither is anything above about 102,400, but the very fact they go this high means you can use 12,800, 25,600 and 51,200 and actually get acceptable results. That opens up a whole new set of opportunities for photography. The only reason for dropping 1 star is that there are just a couple of minor niggles with the display that with a bit more thought could have been nailed. e.g. switching landscape, reversal film, bright type modes via the smart function switch doesn't name the one you've just moved to, it just shows a tiny icon, meaning you have to try memorise them. Minor but could have been brilliant - means I'm currently going into the info menu as there is does name them.Overall though, very pleased with this camera and looking forward to years of great photography with it.

Excellent camera for the money
I have always had a Pentax camera for my K lenses, but seldom used it as m primary goto camera. Ever since I used a K3ii and now this KP I automatically go for this camera. Besides a few small niggles with the controls on the camera face it is an easy to use, fully controlable camera which does exactly what it is told and uses all my historical and modern lenses to great effect... for my birding the Auto Tracking s clunky but when it does capture a good shot the results are amazing. If you have older lenses and want a great camera... in my opinion the KP is the best of the bunch.

My Best Pentax Deal in 2020
I am a Pentax user and the Pentax KP is one of the best Pentax DSLR I have laid my hands on with improvements that is humbly appropriate at its time of release. The price I was able to pay for it thru Amazon Prime was a steal.

Excellent
Robust feel. The grips are very helpful. The included software is very useful. The water and dustproofing give you additional confidence and I really appreciate that shake reduction is in the body.

Make sure you get the right lens for the camera.
Love the quality of pictures.
