## Description

Product Description Nitty Gritty Aromatherapy Head Lice Solution is a simple, no fuss, natural solution to aid the detection and removal of head lice. It is completely natural, made from a blend of essential oils, with no nasty ingredients! When used together with our Nitty Gritty NitFree comb (sold seperately) the oil based solution allows the comb to glide smoothly and effortlessly through any hair type. It also helps loosen the glue that sticks the eggs to the hair as well as immobilising the lice making it difficult for them to move around the head. Unlike some regular hair conditioners, our solution won’t foam up when you use it, so you can really see what you’re doing (and what you are combing out). With neem and added wheatgerm it not only smells great but leaves the hair in shiny tip-top condition. Size: 150 ml (3-6 applications, depending on hair length) Please note: Nitty Gritty NitFree Comb is sold seperately or you can buy both products together in our Nitty Gritty Combination Kit Ingredients Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Triticum Vulgare (Wheatgerm) Germ Oil, Melia Azadirachta (Neem) Seed Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus (Eucalyptus) Leaf Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Herb Oil, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Flower Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Camphor+, Geranyl acetate+, Linalyl acetate+, Terpineol+, Terpinolene+, beta-Caryophyllene+, alpha-Terpinene+, Pinene+, Citral+, Geraniol+, Limonene+, Linalool+, Citronellol+ P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); Directions Simply apply the solution straight on to dry hair then comb it through with a regular comb from the roots of the hair to the tips, ensuring the hair is completely saturated. Leave for 20 minutes. You are then ready to start combing with your nit comb. Review: Very useful in combination with the nitty gritty comb to remove residual headlice/nits - This lotion does NOT kill headlice, it is meant to be used with the nitty gritty comb to remove residual headlice/nits after treatment, or to detect new infections before they get worse. I had the nitty gritty comb for a long time and always found it useless because not would not remove a single nit but was breaking my daughters hair like crazy. That's because I was using it, mistakenly, on wet (washed) hair. Using it with this lotion works wonders. Of course you can use the comb with any other oil and it also works, but I really like the smell of this lotion. What I do to keep headlice at bay is: 1- If there is a case of headlice in school or I see nits in the girls, I buy a treatment in the pharmacy and use it right away. 2- Then, every 2 days I use this lotion with the nitty gritty comb to comb their hair for a good 20-30 minutes each. There has not been a single time that a treatment (and I've tried all types and brands) has got rid of every single headlice/nit, there are always some headlice and nits that survive the treatment and come up when combing. 3- Usually, I keep seeing headlice/nits for at least 2 combing sessions, most of the times are very small headlice that hatched after treatment. But after 3-4 sessions they usually go away. Then I keep combing once a week, and then once a month as a preventive measure 4- I only do a second treatment if after the first treatment and 4-5 sessions of combing twice a week I keep seeing headlice/nits in the comb
Review: With a bit of effort works really well - I have two daughters with quite long hair who sadly occasionally come home from primary school with head lice. This product in combination with the nitty gritty metal comb (which you need to buy separately) works really well. The upsides are that it's a natural product so no nasty chemicals to rub into their scalps, it smells quite nice, does a great job of shining my wedding ring and it works! The downside is it's a labour intensive process (as I'm sure most treatments are). Personally I comb the hair through with the metal comb first to get rid of as many of the little sods as possible, then I comb through again with the solution. The metal comb is great for removing the lice and any eggs. In addition to the combing we also bag up all soft toys for 48hrs and change their bedding. I believe that the lice can't survive for long on things like bedding, but they can for a while which is why we take this extra precaution - maybe totally unnecessary but I wouldn't want to take the chance of clearing the lice and then getting them back the next day!! I'd highly recommend this product if using with the metal comb - I've never used it without the metal comb so unsure if it is for this reason that others have found it less effective.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can i use this on my 14 month old?**
A: Although i cannot see anything in regards to ages on the bottle, I would not recommend it to a child under 3 as the substance is rather strong to inhale and can cause irritation on the skin and is rather nasty if it gets in the eyes. If your child fidgets , or constantly has their fingers in their mouth like my children this lotion is rather thick and leaves the hair greasy and stays on the hands. Use gloves and whatever you do put a towel on the floor especially if you have laminated floors or tiles as the lotion is Oil based and Will cause slip hazards. Though the lotion is thick it can drip like a baby oil substance, if you are still wishing to treat your child from headlice try one of the foam's as this is safer and kinder to the skin and eyes.

**Q: does it get rid of the eggs**
A: needs to be used twice.

**Q: Does this come with the comb?**
A: It comes with a plastic nit comb but I would also recommend the metal nitty gritty not comb. Both great products - good luck !

**Q: Instruction says to use itbfor 10 days, do i have to apply and comb every day or have i misunderstood?**
A: Use it again after ten days to catch any lice that have hatched since the first treatment You may not have got all the eggs out first time and young lice can't lay eggs for about two weeks after hatching, I understand. It is worth spending time combing carefully through every area of the scalp and hair more than once during each treatment and frequently wiping both sides of the comb on a clean tissue. A video or DVD will usually keep the treatee in place. We have found Nitty Gritty effective over about ten years and compared to other solutions it is pleasant to use.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Definitely worth buying
*by M***N on 2 March 2020*

After reading all the reviews and a recommendation from a friend, I bought the Nitty Gritty solution and comb. The comb is quite honestly genius. Using the solution and the comb cleared all headlice and eggs first time round. I’m not sure how people are still having headlice left after using this with the comb however I would say you do need to be meticulous with combing. I combed the hair twice as I was determined to blitz the buggers first time round. This isn’t a pesticide so won’t automatically kill all the eggs and headlice. It’s a natural remedy to help clear them. Tbh there’s really no need for the strong toxic pesticides this works brilliantly. I would say invest in the comb too, absolutely worth it and can be used on its own with conditioner if you don’t have solution. I personally prefer the solution rather than condition method as the hair is easier to handle.
