Hot sunshine kills all growth under the plastic **Q: Could this be used to line the outside wall of a garage and then back-filled with earth? Need to stop water from earth coming through brick work.** A: In my opinion yes. It is certainly thick enough. I have used it for my shed roof until I can get someone to replace roof **Q: Can i use this with self adhesive velcro as a blackout blind if i cut it to fit? Or will it be too heavy?** A: Anna - it is quite flexible in spite of being a heavy duty item. Mine was wrapped over log piles for the winter and we have strong winds - has survived well. Would possibly work as a blackout blind but would suggest you contact the manufacturers which is what I did before buying it. Hope this helps. Typhoon Kate **Q: question is, will this product degrade in sunlight and will it block sunlight?** A: it hasn't degraded over the winter. We use it to stop moss on the tennis court and it has been very effective. We only use it in winter but I think it would block sunlight. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good quality product *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 8 July 2021* Used this to line a small pond, absolutely brilliant, delighted with the end result. Good quality product, prompt delivery, great price ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect for the job *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 17 November 2021* Was looking for large sheet of strong black plastic sheeting to completely protect two lots of cut and stacked logs through our very wet and windy winters. The sheeting was strong but folded neatly to secure and tie down. Hope to report next spring that it came through the winter unscathed! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hard wearing *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 2 August 2019* Use this as the DPM for a new log cabin and it worked great. Others that I’ve used for other projects have been too thin and ripped during assembly (of the building) but I could work on this no problem without thinking that I’m going to damage it. Other than that it a big black sheet of plastic - enough said. ## Frequently Bought Together - Black Heavy Duty Polythene Plastic Sheeting DPM DPC Damp proof Membrane 4 Metre x 5 Metre 250mu - 1000g BBA - Bakulyor 50 Weed Control Membrane Pegs + 50 Buffer Washer, 6"/150mm Weed Mat Metal Garden Landscape Staples Artificial Grass Pins Ground Cover Mossing Fabric Artificial Barrier Pegs Accessories --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.in/products/49100881-black-heavy-duty-polythene-plastic-sheeting-dpm-dpc-damp-proof](https://www.desertcart.in/products/49100881-black-heavy-duty-polythene-plastic-sheeting-dpm-dpc-damp-proof) --- *Product available on Desertcart India* *Store origin: IN* *Last updated: 2026-10-09*
