I spent about 2 weekends rubbing with WD40, then somebody recommended solvent cleaner. It smells very strong - like nail varnish remover, and it might have done more if I could have soaked the area, but as it's a ceiling all I can do is keep rubbing it on. It did easily bring some thicker parts of the sealant off, but I'm still left with marks where the sealant was. It's a very long process and I've found rubbing with WD40 and leaving for a bit, and then rubbing with this works the best.
