My tokay geckos hate it and my leopard geckos hate it too. My Australian whites tree frog doesn't mind it and the eyelash crested gecko loves it. It's to bright in a 40gal but in my 6'x6' greenhouse it's just fine attached to the ceiling. **Q: If I don't have a daytime light will it still turn on automatically?** A: It will turn on automatically as long as there's no light source on the sensor. And if it's always on adjust the sensor to catch any light during the day. **Q: How would I go about attaching this to my wall or ceiling?** A: Well, realize that it does have a cord. You could use glue, command strips, double sided tape, anything adhesive will do fine on the back of it. It dies have a metal disk that you use if you are putting it in a tank, so you could use command strips on that disk, because it's smaller than the moon, and then just let the moon magnet onto said disk. Just know that if the cord is pulled you'll most likely knock the moon down unless you forsake said disk and adhere the moon itself to your wall.
