While it may not withstand extreme mishaps like a receiver falling off while cruising on the highway, it excels in pinpointing issues like bad bearings that are not yet audible to the naked ear. The included headphones might not meet expectations, but once replaced with a pair of Bose over-ear headphones, the experience is transformed. This tool has proven invaluable in detecting hidden car issues, making it a worthwhile investment for any car owner looking to stay ahead of potential problems.

The device does a good job of identifying issues like failing bearings before they become obvious. I used it while at work to check for strange noises in my car's engine, and it helped catch a problem early. The headphones it came with aren’t the best, but swapping in my Bose over-ear headphones made everything much clearer. I’m happy with how it’s helped me stay ahead of potential car trouble.

Helps diagnose car noises without guessing

Is it built cheaply? Yes. But it does the job, and the quality is not that bad. Honestly even if it was built tough it probably wouldn’t survive a mishap if a receiver fell off the chassis while driving at highway speeds. It helped me diagnose a bad bearing very easily, as well as the bearings that are on their way out that are not yet audible to the naked ear. The headphones included suck, but throw on a pair of Bose over ear headphones and you’re good to go.

These work as good as any other chassis ear I have used. They are affordable, costing significantly less than other brands of the same quality. I have used them a couple of times and they have helped me diagnose suspension issues on customer vehicles. They are easy to install and as durable as any other chassis ear I have used previously.

I have not used this in an actual application as of yet - just got it in. It feels like a prototype, not polished at all - like it was created as a proof of concept, before you actually produce it. The batteries are really difficult to insert. The battery springs are way tooo long so the battery barely fits. The power indicator is ridiculously bright - there's no need for that. It probably drains the batteries quickly. he batteries it comes with have been in the package for a while or are cheap because they all 'sweat'. You may not want to leave them in the devices for any longer length of time. It seems a bit fragile so may not lend itself to a shop setting. Some borrowers may not be as careful with this. Also, one transmitter did not have the clip secured with screws. It didn't fall off immediately but would have in a real situation. It probably will be a very useful took to me but the execution is a bit shaky. Not sure whether I am returning this yet.

Came packaged fine. Everything looked new. Put in the batteries and one of the sending units had the power light on and you couldn't switch it off. I assume the switch was defective. I tried working with the three that would shut off. Two worked but one of the sending units didn't register any sound ... may be defective? As I continued to try to test, one of the sending units just sent static that was very annoying and didn't allow me to focus on the noises that I was looking for. Eventually another sending unit stopped working. While I had those problems with the sending units, periodically, the receiving unit would switch to channel one even though I didn't have anything hooked up to it for most of the time I was testing. Overall a frustrating experience! I am returning the complete set I received and will order another just to see if it is a fluke thing. I will update this review when I get a second unit.

Works good, decent value for the money, however some parts feel cheap. good tool to use for the intermittent clunks/rattles, can save you time and headaches, however it can be a hassle and take some time to put all the batteries in and set it up when I need to use it. Each module takes 4 AAA batteries, and the handheld brick takes 6 AA batteries. Modules also seem to use batteries fairly quick, however this is by far more convenient than the Wired unit that I had before, they also have a Gen 2 of this wireless unit now, so check that before purchasing.

Been eyeing this tool for awhile now. It's getting more and more difficult to diagnose some of these suspension noises in vehicles today, with so many bushings and arms noises travel. This tool however, great to be able to isolate certain points of interest and can remotely switch between them to listen for the noises. Great packaging with a solid blow molded case and deep foam keeps the tool well protected.
