The 'memory foam' works well. The size and height are as stated. It arrived compressed and wrapped in polythene. If you buy this mattress, don't leave the purchase to the last minute! It takes about 10 days (no exaggeration!) for the chemical smell to go away. It is foam, and it will smell! It needs to be stored in a room that is not in use while it is being aired. I tried to sleep in the same room but the smell was overpowering. After the smell has dissipated, it is perfectly usable and not smelly at all. I am extremely fussy about such things, but I am truly pleased with the purchase. The fact that it smelled when opened has not put me off buying another, should I need it (and I probably will).Another thing to note: Do not use it on a hard surface. If the bed you buy it for has wooden slats, the foam will sink through, so secure a strong sheet underneath it. If you do this, the mattress is perfectly comfortable. It does have a slight smell at first but goes after few days. I'm happy with the thickness and quality for the price. My son says the mattress is firm , I did have a lay down on it and yes it is quite firm . He's had no problem sleeping on it ,just got to adjust to the firmness as his last mattress was much softer. I would recommend this mattress it's a good fit for single bed, a nice thickness, great value and quite firm .
