Sena Impulse DOT Flip Up Modular Bluetooth Helmet w/Sound by Harman Kardon Dual Visor Helmet with Integrated Mesh Intercom System / MP3 / Voice Dial

So I bought this helmet after I returned the more cost effective Sena helmet. Can’t remember what they called that one with the jog dial but it would not connect to anything by Bluetooth right out of the box. ( what a lazy design and bad software ) So I thought I would give the more expensive one with proper buttons a try. It’s easier to sync and use by far. The sound quality of the speakers is pretty good for the price point. The fitment around the crown of my dome is pretty spot on and feels snug in the cheeks. What is not good however is the amount of wind whistle/disturbance that comes under the helmet. The visor doesn’t seem to seal all that well and the placement of the boom mic leaves much to be desired. It is like the mic is the width of a dog hair from my face and constantly touches my chin. I know what you’re thinking, no I don’t have the Jay Leno chin…. I guess to sum it all up Maybe that’s why I’m feeling more disappointed than anything and as a result I’m having a hard time justifying the cost and ownership of this helmet.

Pros: * Sound is fantastic. I use it for bluetooth (music and gps)... I haven't tried mesh network yet. But the sound quality is really good. * Low wind noise for a modular lid. * Pinlock windshield is nice to have when the weather is cold. Cons: * Size... as many have said, buy one size larger than you think you need. * No detents on the windscreen. Why? * Integrated sun shield is manually opened and closed (no spring). This, along with not having detents makes it difficult to know if you've got it all the way down or up. * Closing the modular front just feels *cheap*. not really a better way to describe it. * Ratchet chin strap also feels cheap. I don't mind a ratcheting strap (Nolan and Schuberth both have very good ones). But this one doesn't feel like it's as high quality.

I like the new helmet. I don't love it. In overall happiness with the product, I'd maybe give 4 stars because it is heavy, but the weight is given. I didn't realize how much difference you feel in your neck between 3 lbs and nearly 6 lbs. There's no way I could wear it daily, but for those once a week rides, it's tolerable. The sound is amazing!! The muffling of the engine and road sounds is great. I like the fit, although it's a lot tighter than the same size in other helmets, which I tend to consider too loose.

This helmet is comfortable. The indents for the glasses makes it so you don't feel the glasses. The sound system and Siri at speeds is great quality. I will say you will hear wind, But then again your exposed and rolling at speeds.

Based on review responses I ordered size Large even though the sizing chart indicated Medium was appropriate. Large was still a tight fit and painfully unusable with eyeglasses. Returning the helmet for this reason. Even though the XL has a larger shell I'm hesitant to reorder and find it still does not fit. Disappointing as otherwise the quality looked nice, the sound was great and the included pinlock shield was a nice bonus.
