I saw with this notebook you have a large range of thicknesses, not with the actual pen and paper but the thickness as it appears on your phone, and you can also enlarge the image on the phone. Because I cannot really see what is written on the pad I can ask someone else to take the notes or say a hospital appointment, ask them to write the date and time on the notebook and it will appear on my phone. This is a lifesaver for me. The magnetism of the pen and note book is useless, is virtually nonexistent. What I have done is to get strong magnetic strips which are adhesive on one side, attach one to the pen holder then attach a few together beside each other on the inside of the front cover. It's unfortunate having to do this but it works. The only problem with it is my cat has decided it's good for scratching her claws on! I noticed in one other review that someone said they got a tablet cover to detect it.
