All you have to do is take out the bottom grill by pressing the black buttons on both sides and just simply removing it then placing this baking tray on top of it. It is essentially a pan when you try to clean it which makes it ease it in all fairness. You can place it in your sink, fill it with water and soap, let it sit in for a bit and just clean it or get to cleaning ASAP. I bought one thinking it would fit, but no. I sent it back. Am waiting on tefal producing a bake grill to fit the xl **Q: Is the baking tray compatible with the optigril xl?** A: This is really annoying as it is totally unclear in Tefal’s info. However, as The tray doesn’t show up as an accessory to the XL I have assumed it is NOT compatible with it. Logic says it will be too small as it looks like it slots in quite tightly to the main grill and that wouldn’t be the case in the bigger grill.
