Bread bins however expensive, are really difficult to keep clean - crumbs build up like magic, and if you don't keep them spotless, mould spores take root, especially in damp climates.This bag is brilliant. My homemade bread is keeping much better. Not one single piece of bread has gone mouldy, even when I left a crust in the bag while away for a few days. It went hard but did not grow mould. It is simplicity itself to step outside the back door, turn the lining inside out and give it a quick shake.I'll never use a bread bin again.As far as this particular bag is concerned compared to other bread bags, it is more expensive than other brands, and the pattern is a bit dated, but the French are very fussy over their food so I bought it on that basis.Both the inner and outer are cotton, the liner feels plastic but more flexible. I have just unpicked the top seam to look at the ‘micro-breathable’ middle layer - it looks & feels very much like a good quality PLASTIC. The bag has survived many 40degree washes, chemical treatment & sun-drying. It is the only product I have found that really does extend the freshness of bread and inhibits mould growth for many days.
