The pad has a standard 5 pin MIDI connection so to use it with GarageBand you need either a midi to usb converter or an audio unit with "midi in" connections. Being standard midi, and not USB, you need a device to get the midi data to GarageBand. **Q: Does this power by USB or is the power supply required at all times?** A: Mains power is needed at all times. **Q: does this let you use a click track?** A: Probably but haven't tried it. It has an input jack socket so you could connect to another machine. Personally, I'd save your money on this pad and go for the more expensive eight pad sampler which has more options. Was hoping to use it to play a song intro but no can do. It only plays WAV which are huge and won't accept Mp3's. As for playing the song intro it told me the file was too big for a 20 second song intro.
