Install an AA alkaline battery. Be sure to put the positive (+) end of the battery in first. Then replace the cap. Turn the flashlight on and off by pressing the button until it clicks. After the light is on, push the button lightly to change the brightness.. It also has a blinking function. You can adjust the flashlight focus beam by pulling the "light" end in and out. **Q: How does it turn on? I'm confused.** A: Push button on the end cap **Q: How do I put the battery in the flashlight?** A: I had the same problem. Bring along a spare AA battery and you should be set for most camping trips.The switch stopped working on one of the two flashlights, but I was able to pop it open and get it working again.
