Fluke Networks 10055501 D814 Impact Punch Down Tool with EverSharp 110 & EverSharp 66 Blades plus a Wood Screw Starter Punch,Yellow

This Fluke Newtorks D814 is very well made and easy on the hand, thanks to the internal spring-loaded punch assist. It comes with 2 high-grade steel bits, one for 66-blocks (telephone), the other for 110 (ethernet). Each bit is reversible with one end for cutting and the other for punching cable loops without severing the cable. There is a compartment in the end for storing the unused bit. The punch assist force is adjustable so you get the right amount of cutting force for the size of wire. Brightly colored to help you get the cutting side facing the right way. I've punched down ethernet cable all day long with this tool without tiring, because it multiplies your stroke and the bits stay sharp. Put your name on yours. My last D814 walked away when another tech decided he liked my punch-down tool too much to resist. :)

What else do you expect from a Fluke. I've used 20 year old Fluke punch downs and brand new ones. They operate flawlessly and the blades were sharp. Single punch every time. Even on 22 gauge.

This comes with two EverSharp blades which I like. That alone pays for the tool. I like the Fluke product, it's fairly smooth and slim so it slides in and out of the work pouch easily. The plastic is easy to clean if your working with OSP cable. The spring seems a little stiff but my old one was probably just worn. I like the fact it has 4 rivets. A co-worker of mine bought a cheap set off of E-Bay and it didn't last the day. This tool is also on the list of approved impact tools for Systimax. Some of the other brands have a stiffer spring although Systimax failed to inform us of which brands those were.

After reading the reviews of all the similar punchdown tools and seeing that all of them had their quirks I bought this one. Seems solidly made and works reasonably well. I've only used it for a couple connections so far. Only problem I've noted is that the cut blade for the 110 tool rarely seems to make a successful cut. I've always looked to Fluke as being the premier manufacturer in their field (and hoped to have some Fluke stuff someday) so I'm kinda disappointed that the tool has this issue. Not a huge deal - with my limited use I can cut off the wires with a small diagonal cutter but it would be a real pain for someone doing production work.

Fluke is a great product you get what you pay for if you buy a cheap punch down you'll be buying another by Smart buy good quality this is great for punching down terminals I have to punch down once the wire is cut the cheap ones you have to punch twice to cut the wire.if you use a good quality tool you won't look like a monkey

I have used a Fluke D814 for years in business and am only replacing it due to damage I caused to the case. I use several different blades all of which are interchangeable. The tool has worked flawlessly. Anyone needing a punch down tool cannot go wrong purchasing this one.

Did not realize that this did not have a spudger until after it arrived. Blades are chrome plated, and not as sharp as previous ones I have used. Disappointed in the reduced quality and features of this version.

For telecom/network tools I generally look to Fluke. They make quality stuff. This punch down tool has worked well.

Expensive for what it is but that is no reflection on the seller only the product
