## Questions & Answers

**Q: what are these made of? the pictures almost make it look like some sort of plastic?**
A: Each assembled Rackstud is composed of 3 pieces (the stud or post, the washer, and the nut).  All 3 pieces are plastic or nylon of some kind.  They're definitely not for mounting heavy equipment (I think the limit is 44 pounds), but for lighter gear such as switches, routers, even lightweight 1u servers they've been sufficient for me and *much* easier to deal with than cage nuts.  The only trick is to make sure you get the right Rackstud variant (light blue, dark blue, or red) based on the thickness of your rack's vertical rails.

**Q: Would a Dell or Compaq rack be more likely to use the blue or other version of rackstuds?**
A: Sorry, that is a hard one. Rail thickness varies between racks even between the same brand depending on the racks purpose. Open frames and seismic racks tend to have thicker rails needing the 'blues'. If in doubt, get one of the RSL4C sample packs that contain both colors to try but the blue 2.7mm version is also a safe bet as it will still work with rails on the thinner side.

**Q: Question for seller: is the 20 pack going to be offered on amazon like the red version?  i have a hoffman e4drs19fm45u rack that measures 2.6-2.75**

tried these with a standard size / weight Cisco router, and it didnt hold the device level as the normal metal cage nuts do - would be fine for lightweight devices im sure

These are amazing. Had issues initially as bought the smaller gauge red variant and these did not fit our 10 year old APC racks (newer ones are apparently made with thinner gauge of metal).They are so much nicer and easier to use than traditional cage nuts and bolts. Initially the folks from our networks group were sceptical but were delighted to have been proven wrong. Everyone shown the system from that point onwards has said that it was a real revelation. New data centre fully racked out in a fraction of the usual time.We are now considering making this a standard in our company!
