But as a cleaner and polisher of metals like brass, copper, silver it works very well. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brasso works but not perfekt *by R***L on 18 December 2025* As shown in the pictures, Brasso has improved the condition of my old compass after just one application. The surface looks brighter and cleaner. However, it is more difficult to use on areas that are complicated to reach because the wadding breaks down quickly into small pieces and tends to get stuck. Even so, the compass already looks much better than before. I will certainly need to repeat the application, but I prefer to wait until the weather is warmer because using it indoors is problematic due to the fumes and when I polished the compass outside in the garden my fingers became stiff and I felt cold. Overall, Brasso is a good product, but there are some important points to keep in mind. It should not be used indoors because of the fumes. There is also an environmental factor since the wadding is soaked with chemicals and must be handled with care. Gloves are essential, ideally disposable ones. Finally, the wadding falls apart quickly and becomes less useful.
