Courtesy of desertcart's dynamic pricing, it actually worked out only marginally more expensive to buy a new ironing board than to replace the cover and padding. Beyond that it's just an ironing board, but it's very well made, is sturdy, and should last many years ... cats permitting (though we no longer leave it standing once the ironing is done). The gap between the iron plate and the board is far too wide - the iron lead keeps getting stuck down it and it is very irritating.
