Power Liftgate Support Shock Struts Compatible with 2013-2018 RAV4 2.5L

Relatively easy install. Watched a few Youtube vids for some tips and used a ladder to hold the liftgate all the way up while replacing the struts. Great quality parts that function perfectly at a fraction of the dealer price. Mine went on a 2016 Toyota RAV4 XLE. Very satisfied!

Seems risky to give a five star rating to what basically looks pretty similar to the OEM stuff. Easy install, easy calibration, quiet. Time will tell. Been about 8 weeks of almost daily use. 2022 Highlander purchased used with 28k miles. The struts seemed noisy at the time but our old car was very quiet (replaced our RX350 running well @ 210k miles). Struts failed completely (wife wouldn't use gate) at about 44K after a few weeks noise, jerkiness and complaining, it often would not close at all without pulling down pretty hard. Anyway, so far so good. I might order another set just in case. $189?

Tailgate struts stopped working after just a year of buying them. I reached out to customer service and they explained that I need to spray them with a lubricant spray, which I did, although they continue to disfunction. The customer service ticket was closed and I still don’t have any resolution. I had originally reached out to see about the warranty coverage, but we never got that far and I still have tailgate struts that are not functional.

Fit and worked perfectly on my 2023 highlander hybrid. Install is not as simple as 5 mins, removing the connectors was challenging. Saved me a big amount compared to dealer prices. Its been 2 weeks now, no issues so far! Its very quiet in operation. No other steps like resetting codes or programming required. It was plug and play!

6 months and still working on a 2016 Rav 4. EZ to install with basic tools. YouTube is your installation resource.

They work well. Only drawback is the electric lift only opens approximately 70% leaving you to open it the rest of the way by hand. (Unless there is some programming you have to do that I'm unaware of.)

this is a preliminary review from july 2025 right after install. i will try to remember to update but if do not update just assume it's still working. this product installed easily in our 2013 rav4 limited using a youtube video as a guide and using only a 10mm socket, a 10mm wrench and a plastic trim plug prybar. it took maybe 40 minutes. the only part i found missing for the replacement install is that there should be two protective gaskets between the body and the upper hinge plates and i could not reuse the old ones. everything else lined up and fit perfectly. the only change i made to the install videos online is that i put blue loctite on the 4 hinge attachment bolts since i could see that had been done at the factory and i unplugged, removed and thoroughly cleaned the sensor trim pieces during the install. this added about 5 minutes to the install which took 30 minutes all in. these struts look to be of good quality in terms of fit and finish and in fact appear to be identical to the factory original other than the fact the number "909" is stamped on the hinge parts. even the joining crimps on the tubes appear to be the same as the original. the struts also each come in a nice custom styrofoam case although the top hinges are loosely fitted into an unsecured opening in the foam and could fall out. all in all it looks very like oem quality. time will tell on that. after installation it worked perfectly immediately. we had spent considerably time trying to troubleshoot why the hatch was intermittently working and now it is clear the factory struts were worn out. our symptoms were intermittent 2 beeps or long beep and intermittent failure to close and then intermittent failure to open and then total failure to move. various factory resets and cleaning the sensors on the body didn't work. update: 4 months later and still working great.

The liftgate struts were compatible to my vehicle and installation was straightforward. No modifications were required at all. I've waited for awhile before posting this review just to make sure that there were no "hiccups" with its operation. Remarkably, if anything, they actually seem to raise and lower the tailgate slightly quicker that the original struts did. I'm very glad I went with this option to replace the original struts.
