Replaced Higher Priced One For this Brand
These Capacitor for AC central systems do not last so long. I've been replacing when they need too be. You'll know when you need to replace them. I trying out this brand I had heard about it, plus the specs matched up to what was in there. I had HD = heavy duty but those only lasted almost 5 years under yearly usage. My Ex her brother was AC tech but he never came here to install this they live 6 round trip. Not that hard to discharge the capacitor first with a large flat head screw driver. Make sure you take a picture of how the wires of the defective capacitor was. Match Fan C M/H for me there are 3 wires and you don't want them touching each other or touching metal. I want to see how long this last I need to keep one as spare. This and the inside handler 1/2 hp fan EMC.. If you keep your coils outside clean helps keep everything running at peak and cold. Longevity This one I don't know year 2022 this was installed lets see how long it last. Update! March 2nd 2023 No issues but I getting another one for the this price is a steal yet I think it was $9.99 last month. I repair my own central AC just cleaned on the air handler condenser coil with dog brush start from the top go downward. Sprayed vinegar mix with dawn generic one and water spray inside and out wait . Use the hose I got off Amazon has well. Had to repair that too. Cleaned out the evaporator line as well and the main unit outside condenser coil too. Once all this was done the air came in cooler ran less than before. Made my own connector to the dry vac intake outtake nozzle. That line needs to be clear every 6 months. Max Run worth the money. You know when it goes bad when the there is a loud db skrill.. I keep the house at 79F with digital LUX. Listen I think you should get you get the Max Run..

Solid Choice

It worked! And I serviced my own AC unit!!
My AC went out the week of July 4th. We had no AC for 3 days in 94 degree weather. HVAC companies were booked up until after the holiday, but I booked 2 appointments anyway in case they had a cancellation. Being a woman, I didn't want to get ripped off, so I started researching why my unit might not be cooling, and watched many YouTube videos and learned that it was probably the capacitor. I figured it was worth a try, I was getting desperate. It was dark outside when I got home from work and noticed that my package arrived. It was so hot in the house that I thought I was going to pass out. So I installed the capacitor in the dark with a flashlight, following all the steps for safety by cutting the power both inside and outside the house, and discharging the old and new capacitors with a insulated screwdriver. The best part is that it fixed my problem in 10 minutes. And I happily canceled the 2 HVAC appointments, saving myself a minimum $89 service call. Before the new part arrived, I took some time to clean my ac unit, just as a HVAC tech would. I diluted Dawn dish soap with water, 1 part Dawn, 10 parts water to spray the outside of unit, let sit for 7 minutes and rinse thoroughly with a regular water for 10 minutes. Don't forget to clean any leaves or grass from around the unit. Inside the house, I vacuumed the return air vent and change the air filter. Once I switched out the old capacitor, I noticed that my AC is blowing colder air than before!! This capacitor is 370 VAC or 440 volt so it can handle fluctuations in the electricity, unlike my old one which was only 370 VAC.

Cheap, fast delivery and easy install. Now, lets see how long it works.
My scenario, inside AC worked (newer machine) but the fan on the outside unit did not run. Only a loud thonk every 20 seconds or so. I could manually start the fan and it would run fine (means the fan motor was good) but the thonk continued. Problem was that the part of the capacitor that sends the jolt to start fan died. Solution - replace capacitor with this guy. Worked perfectly! I agree with others, be safe and smart! Disconnect ALL power, ground old capacitor "carefully" yada,yada. Oh, when putting the cover back on, you WILL drop 1 screw on the ground and spend 10 minutes looking for it. Just the way it goes...We'll see how long this unit works. I'll update after a reasonable amount of time.

Verify the size before ordering, easy install, works great.
This is an easy install, just disconnect power, wait a bit (to let it discharge) open a cover plate, use a screwdriver or something to short the terminals and verify no retained charge, and replace the wires on the same terminals with the new one as they were on with the old one. Each terminal has a different number of stabs (2,3, or 4), so easy to keep straight. Typically you will need a replacement run / start capacitor if your compressor FAN will not start. You can hear it humming, but not moving. Using a screwdriver to push start the blades will often get it working, and at that point you can be fairly confident the start portion of the capacitor is bad. My experience is that the start portion always fails first, not guaranteed but seems to be pretty common. It is very hard to test a capacitor properly without a special tool, so I have replaced this before on a "just in case" basis.

Worth it...if you know what you are doing!
This was exactly what I needed to fix my AC unit that was working 2 days ago and then all the sudden not the next day (not cooling but not hot air either)...with prime shipping I was only down one day of no AC! It fit the mount perfectly and was the correct capacitance to get. I'm sure a professional AC tech would have charged me way more than what I paid for and labor on top of that (which is so simple to do). I feel very satisfied and proud to not be out a lot of money for a silly dual run capacitor. If you feel this is beyond your skill set/comfortability, seek a professional for help. Note to those thinking about doing this DIY: Only attempt doing a capacitor change if you know how to use a meter to measure out voltages, capacitance, and ohms. You are dealing with high voltages, heights (if on a roof), and caps can be dangerous if you do not discharge them properly. Take photos of how it is hooked up before removing and also test the other capacitors and replace them if beyond a yield of 5%-6%. The unit will run better with proper voltages and not have any funny current draws/resistances that way. Look up some videos on YouTube if need be. If you have 2 separate capacitors (like I did) you can just get a dual capacitor in a single cap with dual terminals...just make sure the capacitance values of the fan and the herm are correct. Try to find OEM parts values with Google (or just find the OEM parts itself and look at that capacitance rating and then look on Amazon). You will thank yourself in the future.

Great product that is easy to install
I liked how the markings on my old capacitor were the same as this product. That made the installation fool proof. I simply pulled the wires off the old one and installed it on the new one wire at a time. This product saved me at least a $150 by making it easy to do it yourself. Remember to shut off all power to the AC unit before opening the panel to access the capacitor. I also used a screwdriver to short out the tabs on the old capacitor as the first step. Capacitors can hold a charge for a very long time. It's always best to be safe than sorry. Remove the one screw/bolt holding the old capacitor in and gently pull it out to see the markings on the old capacitor. Then swap the wires to the new one by pulling on the top of the clip/tab with some pliers. Don't pull on the wire itself, or you may break the wire from the clip over the tab. Mount the new one by reversing what you did removing the old one. Easy! BTW, my AC unit symptom was the fan not always starting up and being slow to start up when it did start.

Fixed an AC unit and saved me thousands...
I had a technician to my house and look at our upstairs AC unit. He did not test the Capacitor and just threw a super booster on it. Well it worked for about a month or so then caught on fire. Burnt the top almost completely off. So I went out and shut off the power to the unit, discharged the old capacitor and removed the charred super booster. Then I checked the OHMS on the herm to ground and it was OL, checked the fan to ground and had 7 or 8. So I knew it was a bad capacitor. I came in the house and ordered this one and it was delivered the next afternoon. Put it in and the compressor turned right on. The guy was telling me I had a bad compressor but his super booster would give me a few more months. Her then was telling me he could get a good deal on a new unit and replace it for me. I was wondering why it would go bad in less than 6 years and was not thinking he was on the up and up. Good thing I tested and bought one, I could have fallen for his lying scam!
