A: Yes, you can reduce the size as they are made of solid rubber.

**Q: Do they go over the leg of the ladder or inside the legs.**

**Q: do these feet have a strong smell, like creosote?**
A: After use any smell disappeared. However, I do recall them smelling of rubber when new, but not creosote.
