The right bike for sailors
Bought for use on our sailboat, and the Mariner D8 is exactly right for that: folds to a size that stows in a cockpit locker, corrosion-resistant components for the marine environment, and the 8-speed Shimano drivetrain handles harbor towns and quays well. Solid, rattle-free ride for a 20" folder, and the brushed finish looks great. Weight (~12.6 kg) is manageable for lifting aboard. Recommended for boaters — this is the folding bike actually designed for that use.

It is very compact when folded and not too heavy to lift.
This is a well made bike that is very easy to fold and store in a small trunk like a Camry. It is not too heavy to lift I am over 70. It is perfect if you have no way to ride on the side of roads or want a rack on your car. I suggest for a quick set up. Get your bike set up for you then with a marker place a mark where your settings are for your seat and handle bar height. This way you don’t have to guess when you’re ready for a ride. I am so pleased that a stationary bike is not my only option. I hope this helps someone.

Good for the price.
1 week of use so far and it has been good. Took to an LBS on receipt to do initial setup. No damage from shipping on arrival. Gears shift up and down smoothly and on flat terrain with little effort i was sustaining around 13.5 MPH. Bike also rides smooth over good terrain conditions and slight bumps. Haven't tried anything rough. A comfortable and adjustsble ride with good handle bar grips. Average ride for work around 3.5 miles.

Nothing is adjusted, Dahon says you must have a bike shop set it up to initiate warranty
Was not apparent until close examination but box suffered severe side impact bending Dérailleur hanger and Dérailleur. Rear wheel not true, about $40 to straighten at the bike shop. Parts are proprietary, closest Dahon Dealer one hour away. Would not shift correctly and made unnatural sounds when not under-load so did not ride or proceed.. 5 pounds lighter than Schwinn loop which has you bent over in a mountain bike position and schwinn runs out of gear way too quick. Love the bike will own one soon.

Great Bike
This is my first folding bike. Surprised at how normal it feels compared to a regular bike and while it is not the lightest or smallest when folded, it can be stored in my apartment which doesn't have so much space.
