A: You need to buy it separately? The speaker does not come with a charging base, the speaker does come with he charging cable, which is what you use for the charging base.

**Q: If my charger cord broke do i need a cord with this cradle or does it come with one??**
A: The Charger Cord attaches to the base. Once the base is powered up, just set the speaker on the base to charge the speaker.

**Q: Can the speaker sit on the charging cradle continuously while the cradle is plugged in and not overcharge?**
A: Thanks for your question, Yes , the speaker can sit on the charging cradle contionuously while the cradle is plugged in and not overcharger , The battery of douni speaker is lithium-ion battery. Generally lithium-ion batteries  have a safety circuit  to ensure that in the event of overcharge ,discharge and short circuit, it will automatically cut off the battery. It is safe for keeping charging . 
But we do not suggest always it is in powering status.For all electronics if powered all the time , it will have somewhat influence on battery.

This cradle is a very convenient way to charge the A5. Plug it in, sit the speaker on it, and its charging!When done, just lift it off the cradle, one-handed. Sits back in place just as easily.

    Why would you not add a separate charger cable???

I purchased this to add a little portability to the otherwise GREAT speaker, i.e. I wanted to use the cradle in one location while using the original cable in a different room.  Obviously, without an additional charger cable, that didn't happen. What a waste of money!

I misplaced my wall charger for the A5 while remodeling.  It's my fault for not reading this clearly; I assumed it came with a new plug in, so I still had to pick one up.  Aside from that, it's nice if you want a permanent home for your speaker.  I like how easy it is to remove/replace it on the cradle.  I'm not sure it's a huge benefit to have this vs. simply plugging in your speaker directly, but since the A5 is one of my favorite's, I like having more protection at the base and a safe place for it to sit.
