Avengers Vs. X-Men

I’m a casual comic book fan and I love a big spectacle with a whole lot of characters and this is in my opinion the best one marvel has done yet.My book was a pre owned copy so the condition of the book I can’t really speak to but you get 13 issues of a comic book in one and it’s a great ride.I would recommend that before reading this book you know a general amount about what the phoenix force is and also know the events of 2005s ‘House of M’ crossover as the Scarlet Witches role in the book becomes more meaningful.Spoilers ahead!!The story of this book lies around a different view on how the avengers and the x men think that the phoenix force should be dealt with as it shows interest in Hope. This creates a great conflict between the two as the ‘Phoenix Five’ of the X Men grow increasingly extreme due to the influence of the Phoenix force and this pushes the remaining X men to the other side. All of these extreme actions specifically by Cyclops and Emma Frost make a lot of sense given the emotional impact of House of Ms ‘no more mutants’ spell that almost wiped out mutant kind leaving the X men facing extinction daily. This is why the mutant leaders Emma and Cyclops getting a taste of power and going to the extreme in my opinion works super well.The resolution with hope and Wanda is amazing and I love how they redeemed Wanda in this comic and I found it to be a thrilling and satisfying journey.

It has been hard to follow all the giant supercrossovers of the recent years, especially when the Heroic Age was supposed to do away with that. Skrull Invasion wasn't very good, Siege was okay, Fear Itself average. The only event I truly enjoyed in the last couple of years was the Civil War, and although I don't feel AvX reaches THAT level of emotional pull, let alone the moral greyness of Civil War, which made it so interesting (here it's pretty clear most of the time that the X-men are the bad guys, even though they could have been portrayed MUCH more ambiguously), it's still a VERY enjoyable and epic story.The art is great especially in the second half when Coipel takes over (Romita is not bad at all, just not very progressive) and except for only a couple deaf spots, the story is consistent and entertaining, with a handful of very heroic scenes and ideas.A small criticism regarding the portrayal of X-men: the reason it's so obvious that they're supposed to be the antagonists is largely due to the fact that they get almost zero "screen time" compared to the Avengers; in Civil War, both sides got a very similar portion of the story, here, the X-men basically appear only when being talked about or confronted by the Avengers.Nevertheless, I was still surprisingly pleased with this book and found myself often smiling from enjoyment.

Really enjoyed this book. It started out a bit slow, and I was worried about all the different characters getting enough time and chance to contribute. I had a couple of issues with the art work, mailing around Hope, just her age, in some issues, she looked in her late teens, and in other her early to preteen. However all this could be put aside for me as my favorite characters, had their moments to shine, and there were parts of the book were exceptionally good and others a bit slow, but all in all and great epic story worthy of these two teams facing off against each other."No more mutants"With these 3 words The Scarlet Witch changed the Marvel universe and decimated the Mutant population, placing them on the endangered species list and leaving the remaining mutant leaders clutching at "Hope". now when you play with cosmic powers, the "BIG Birds" will notice. I like the ambiguity in the comics, as in I could see both points of view before choosing a side. Families, friends, teams, and even the world will be torn apart. Also when ultimate power does come could ultimate corruption be far behind? The only issue that did bother me in this comic series it every character seemed to heal from issue to issue at Wolverine's rate. This is a couple of bit deaths (well as long as the character really stays dead) in the series.Great themes of corruption, redemption, destiny and faith all rolled into one. The TPB contains issues 0 - 12 of the mini series. Show the A4 format of the regular cover at the beginning of every issue as well as thumbnails of the different covers. All in an epic series worthy of a face off between these 2 teams.

I'm a massive fan of the X-men and Avengers films, and I've been dying to read the comics. I felt this was perfect start to my future graphic novel collection. The story line was gripping and there was never a dull moment, the graphics were amazing. It arrived quickly, although once I opened it I realised the first paged had been ripped out which contained many character's names I didn't know. I was really disappointed and the tear in the book makes me angry, I take such great care in my books. Nevertheless the Avengers Vs X-men was absolutely amazing and I would recommend to any Marvel lovers.

I have always liked superhero's; throughout my childhood. Earlier this year I started collecting comic books. I already have a number of comics now (over 7). This time when I bought a comic, I was looking for a comic that would; last a long time. And that, would also have loads of different characters. Avengers versus X-Men; doesn't disappoint. This book has loads of characters, in-fact all the main marvel characters. There is a quality storyline, this book is action packed, full of twists and turns; and most importantly, a very good book. This book has over 300 pages, 372 in-fact. This book didn't ever get boring. I just kept wanting to read more, the story progressed, even though there was loads to read. Occasionally, you may find some comic books that last a long time, slightly repetitive or boring; this comic certainly was not. There are loads of great fights, loads of content and over 300 pages; as previously mentioned. To any comic book fan, I suggest buying this. It is a brilliant comic book, I would give it a 9 out of 10.

I don't read comic books since they were always too expensive and I already had enough hobbies. But collections of comic books such as the avengers versus x-men are brilliant to read since they are rather long so you feel you are getting your moneys worth to begin with. I have a few of these collections and AvX is my favourite, the story is brilliant, the action and humour are all well placed. The only downside is that often context is left outside of the book so requires some prior knowledge to get the most out of this book.

A fantastic graphic novel. The story is engaging, the artwork is beautiful and for the size of the book, exceptional value for money.

First off, John Romita Jr's artwork is stunning in this. That guy just gets better with age. The other artists do a decent enough job too, but his pages in particular are a joy to behold.On to the actual story itself.It was built up so much, I was expecting something big and amazing. Don't get me wrong, it is still fun to read, but when you compare it to other X-Men books (Astonishing X-Men run by Joss Whedon, The Dark Phoenix Saga, even Second Coming and Messiah Complex), it just seems a little bit shallow at the emotional level.Other reviewers hit the nail on the head when they say that the characters were written to behave differently to how they would otherwise, just to get them to fight each other. Cyclops and Captain America were made to act super aggressive, completely outside of their character.[SPOILER]One example, Captain America asks Wolverine to do him a big favour and help him. Wolverine puts his loyalties to Cyclops and the other mutants to one side and agrees to help him. During the mission, Wolverine goes off on his own, not sticking to Captain America's orders. A bit later, they go up in a plane with a couple of other Avengers. Captain America and the other Avengers beat the hell out of Wolverine for not following orders, kick him off the plane to plummet several hundred feet into an arctic wilderness. Erm, okay, Captain America and the Avengers have never acted like that in my entire experience of reading comics. Later on, Wolverine re-joins the Avengers and fights alongside them as if nothing happened. To me it felt like the writers put that scene in just to have an excuse for Wolverine to fight Captain America. Felt odd and very out of character.[SPOILER FINISHED]The above example is one of a few silly moments in the book. Besides the odd WTF moment, this is still a fairly good read. Just not the epic classic a lot of people would lead you to believe.It is what it is. A big, fun, action blockbuster, lots of explosions, fighting, special affects, bang, bang, boom, boom, ooh pretty! Just don't expect to be deeply moved by any of the characters or story.

宇宙の破壊と再生を司る力、フェニックス・フォースが地球に襲来する。その目標はM-デイ以降絶滅すら危惧されるミュータントの”希望”とされる少女、ホープ・サマーズだった。”再生”の力を信じ、フェニックス・フォースをホープに憑依させんとするサイクロプス率いるX-MEN、”破壊”の力を恐れ、地球への襲来を阻止しようとするキャプテン・アメリカ率いるアベンジャーズ、全ての鍵を握る少女ホープをめぐり、マーヴル・ユニバース二大陣営が激突する！マーヴルヒーローチームの二大派閥、アベンジャーズとX-MENの総力決戦を描いたクロスオーバーイベント。中盤からは思わぬ展開も見せ、ポコスカ殴りあうだけの内輪揉めに終始せず、冗長さを感じさせない作りとなっているのも面白い。”力”を持ってしまった者たちの精神面が次第に蝕まれていく描写も大きな見所。ただ、展開を重視するあまりキャラクターのあんまりな言動が目立ってしまうのも事実。サイクロプスは根拠を全く説明せずに「ホープなら大丈夫！」と突っぱね、失敗することを一切考えていない様子。冒頭で通りすがりに他の星を滅ぼしながら地球に向かうフェニックス・フォースなんて絵を見せられた身としてはこんな人智を超えまくった危険物をノーリスクで制御できるとは到底思えないのですが。キャプテン・アメリカに至っては「いーからホープ渡してこっちに任せりゃそれでいいんだよ！」と言わんばかりに強硬な手段を取り、仲間でも命令に従わないヤツは蹴っぽり出す始末。以前の内輪揉めイベントでもその強引なやり口を散々突っ込まれてたのに反省と言うものがないんですか。ストーリーを牽引する役どころが共感も支持も出来ない行動ばかり起こすせいで、コイツらはホントにヒーローなのかと疑りたくなります。(その分、後半で自己犠牲の精神と勇気を見せつけたスパイダーマンが輝いてしまうのが皮肉)一応それぞれの大義名分は理解できるので擁護はできなくもありませんが。オチとその後の展開を見るに、以降のマーヴル・ユニバースに大きな影響を及ぼしているため良くも悪くもマーヴル史に名を残す作品である事は間違いありません。関連誌含めて読めば評価も上下するかもしれませんが、本編だけなら星三つ。
