It is made from metal. It looks great and felt great holding it. It has 3 modes while most showerhead in Amazon has 5-7 modes. But a few of these 5-7 modes are mix of 3-4 basic mode (spray, massage, mist, pause). So in this sense, this shower head is very competitive in term of number of modes of operation. As far as I know, this is the only all metal shower head/wand that has more than rain mode. I bought a Hibbent rain shower combo that come with a stainless steel rain shower head with a plastic, junkie hand held. This hammerhead metal hand held did very well in replacing the hand held that come with Hibbent unit. The construction quality definitely improved and so is the pressure that the shower head generated. I have a relatively lower pressure bathroom (about 55PSI at the shower head .
